Influencers, YouTubers, whatever you might call them, have taken a lift-off into the world of internet fame in the last five years. Previously confined to their channel and expected to produce the same content they are known for whether it be vlogs, beauty, or ASMR, Youtubers have evolved greatly. Stars on the website such as Emma Chamberlain or Devon Lee Carlson are now signed as models and representatives for high-end fashion companies such as Louis Vuitton and Calvin Klein and have even started their own businesses. These 12 YouTubers are either up and coming, or a must-watch channel that all differ in their own creative content and personality.
If you love to watch vloggers on Youtube then Nicole Raffie is definitely a person you should watch. She recently hit 140k subscribers on Youtube, meaning that is becoming well know but is not all the way there yet, so her channel is more personalized to her subscribers. This also means she interacts and connects with her subscribers more in comparison to bigger name Youtubers. Nicole makes and edits her own videos from “This is my daily routine” to “I quit my job today” which is interesting content-wise because nobody wants to watch the same old videos back to back. With Nicole, you get a content variety that will have you laughing while watching one video, and crying while watching the next. Although she is just starting her Youtube fame, Nicole Rafiee is very comfortable in front of the camera and her videos feel genuine.
Cody Ko is the definition of a comedic, yet non-controversial Youtuber. Although he is known for roasting other Youtubers and making “out there” jokes, Cody makes sure that his subscribers know it is all in good fun. As part of his fanbase, subscribers feel as though they are friends with Cody more than fans because the jokes from his videos feel more like inside jokes, and he commonly interacts with subscribers via Twitter. Along with this, Cody’s comedy is unique and similar to that of stand up comedy rather than cringy internet jokes.
Yes Theory is probably the most unique Youtube channel on the site. Centered around the theory that you should always push yourself to take any opportunity and seek discomfort, the channel is run by 3 main guys who live together and take on weekly challenges that force them out of their comfort zone. From flying to a country blindfolded and trying to get back home to America without using technology or maps to asking strangers to go skydiving, the boys are willing to do just about anything. The difference between Yes Theory and other wild channels similar is that these guys aren’t simply about the adrenaline rush or performing dangerous stunts, however instead want to push themselves to try new things whenever they can. While doing this, they also interact with subscribers by inviting them to take part in their videos or taking to social media asking what fans want to see them do next.
Hailey Sani is a young college student at the University of California Santa Barbara. While many of her videos are tailored to teenage girls, she is the perfect Youtuber to watch for anyone interested in lifestyle videos. Her content ranges from college vlogs, to work out routines, to sit down videos talking about her personal life and the advice she wishes she had growing up in high school. She differs from other lifestyle Youtubers due to her evident authenticity, and straightforwardness. Hailey Sani isn’t going to sugarcoat anything she says on camera, she is 100% herself.
Jubilee is a Youtube channel centered around social experiments and fun games that randomly selected people participate in. Opening a dialogue about topics such as politics, racism, and sexism, Jubilee is the hub of bringing people together on the internet by asking hard-hitting questions to strangers and having them answer on camera. Their video content ranges from light-hearted to intense which makes the channel binge-worthy and keeps you coming back for new videos.
You might know of Ellie Thuman from previously working with the company Dote Shopping, however, Ellie is much more than this. In one of her more recent videos, in fact, she discussed how she never wanted to be associated with the company and that her channel is its own separate entity that embodies her and only her. This is one of the things to love about Ellie Thuman. She knows when to talk about important things and what to say. She is not dramatic or oversensitive, but keeps her channel light and optimistic. At the end of each of her videos, she speaks about a foundation or center that supports a cause she cares about to raise awareness on important issues. If you want to watch a young girl grow up into an empowered, easy-going woman, Ellie Thuman is the person to watch.
Mainly known for her friendship with other famous Youtuber Emma Chamberlain, Olivia Rouyre’s channel is one you must subscribe to if you love lifestyle Youtube videos. Olivia Rouyre is more well known, however, this means she posts content more actively and makes a larger effort to expand her content and really get personal with her viewers. From her videos, you can tell that Olivia is a kind, driven teenager, and watching her is both fun and motivating.
John Fish is an interesting Youtuber compared to most whose channel is still up and coming. The content he creates is unique and personal to his intelligent self. To provide an example, look towards the spotlighted video on his channel, which is titled, “Why my 4.0 GPA at Harvard was a Fail.” By being smarter than most, but still having an entertaining personality, John Fish acts as an intellectual motivator for his subscribers.
Bestdressed is a Youtube channel run by a college girl named Ashley who lives in Los Angeles. She shares her love of beauty and fashion by showing off her take on the latest trends in the fashion industry, along with making videos about outfits that anyone can easily put together. Ashley is an easy-to-love video creator because of her ability to talk directly into the camera with little cuts and still be entertaining and act like herself. She divides her channel into separate sections of her life, leaving a little bit of everything available on her channel.
The Vagabrothers channel is the video travel log of your dreams. Similar to a travel diary, but on camera, the Vagabrothers take their subscribers along with them on every new adventure they embark on. Whether it be a video of them going on a motorcycle ride through California, or a video giving their viewers travel tips for when going to Europe, their content ranges immensely and will have you adding locations you have never even heard of to your travel bucket list. Not only are the two brothers entertaining to watch and listen to, but the cinematography shot in their videos is astounding and will give you an inside look at some of the prettiest views in the world.
Emma Topp is one Youtuber you should definitely have on your radar. Ever since I stumbled upon her videos in my Youtube recommended section a few years ago, I have loved her video editing style and how transparent her personality shows through her videos. As a college sophomore, she has experienced countless high school and college adventures that she shares with her audience (such as dealing with freshman year anxiety, going through sorority recruitment, and taking a semester at sea), and constructs her videos in a way that her knowledge feels almost like watching a big sister give advice. I love her consistent positivity, and as she only has almost 400K subscribers, she has room to grow her channel and other social media platforms – and spread her admirable personality with it.
