The snug ear piercing; you may or may not have heard of the snug ear’s piercing but it’s quickly becoming a 2018 piercing trend. For those of you unfamiliar with the ear piercing terminology, it’s just another cartilage piercing that is between your outer and inner parts of the ear; some of you may know it as the antihelical fold or the antihelix. Yeah – I’m getting real technical on you. For each person the exact location varies but ideally, its halfway down the ear. The snug ear piercing is one of the more unusual ear piercings so here is everything you need to know about it.
A snug piercing looks like two small silver studs on either side of your antihelix ridge. As the case with many piercings, they can come in several different styles and decorated snug bars. I will say I’m a fan of two simple studs.
This is the most common question when trying to figure out if you want to get a snug piercing. It is considered one of the more painful cartilage piercings because it’s incredibly thick and sensitive. However, everyone’s pain threshold varies so it really depends person to person.
The healing process is also something that typically takes 6 months to fully recover. Several snug piercing artists say they stay swollen and sore during the healing process so prepare yourself for some discomfort if you are thinking about getting it done. A large percentage of people who get them done take them out but again, it varies person to person. Personally, I think the snug piercing looks incredible. If you aren’t a fan of the discomfort, there are faux snug piercing options out there – as there are for just about everything these days.
If you opt for a snug ear piercing make sure you take care of it because trauma, irritation and infection are all possible if you don’t care for your snug properly. Make sure you are getting your snug piercing done by a professional – that’s a given! The pro about getting a snug piercing is that it usually costs roughly $20-30 and with jewelry roughly $50 – that’s nothing! This is definitely a cool piercing that’s unique and looks incredible!
