Your Next Tattoo Based On Your Astrological Sign

Thinking of your next (or first!) tattoo, but need a little bit of inspiration? Well, look no further. Below I’ve curated a list of tiny tattoos based on the different astrological signs!

Tattoos are an absolute joy in my life and being able to see all the different kinds of tattoos there are out there, and the meanings behind them, are so interesting. Each tattoo aligned with the zodiac signs reflects, complements, or speaks to the signs in some way or another. I hope this list gives you inspiration for your next ink, or simply just inspiration!

1. Aquarius (Jan. 20th-Feb. 18th)

Despite the ‘aqua’ in Aquarius making it seem as if this zodiac sign is linked to the water, it’s actually an air sign, making a teeny tiny bird tattoo the perfect next tattoo for those born under the aquarius sign. However, the birds in the photo below are not merely birds perched on a branch; rather, the one bird is in mid-flight, flying away, above and beyond, its perch.

A major trait of those born under the sign of Aquarius are that they are independent by nature and that they fiercely believe in freedom. They have a fear of feeling and being constraint or limited in their movements, always looking for a way for them to move and find freedom in their everyday existence.

The flying bird, then, is a natural choice for your next tattoo because it symbolizes that you are not caged. You are a being who just needs to trust yourself and the timing and jump off your perch. There are no limitations nor restrictions holding you back.

2. Pisces (Feb. 19th-Mar. 20th)

Pisces is the zodiac sign most closely aligned with the water, with its symbol being two fish that swim in opposite directions of one another. This usually signifies indecisiveness, being stuck between two options, to perspectives and not being able to choose between them.

Thus, your next tattoo, according to your sign, is a tiny wave tattoo; it symbolizes action and moving forward. Rather than being stagnant and not being able to make decisions, this little, tiny wave is the catalyst for subsequent waves, the initial push that creates a ripple effect in the water and in your life.

3. Aries (Mar. 21st-Apr. 19th)

Aries is the Queen Bee of zodiac signs, in my opinion. They are ruled by fire, blazing a trail for those in their wake. Naturally, they are born leaders, wanting to be the ones in charge in any given situation. Those born under the sign of Aries take initiatives and seek opportunities, the rulers, or Queen Bees, of the astrological chart.

Yet, this is not necessarily a bad trait at all; we all need a little bit of fire lit underneath us for motivation and determination. Your next tattoo, then, is a symbol of a small but mighty fighter, the bee. We need bees to survive, just like we need those Aries individuals in our lives to keep us going.  Literally, in fact, since bees play an important role in nourishing both their own lives and ours. They pollinate our crops and help feed our environment through natural cycles. Natural leaders, paving the way, they sustain us and, as a result, must be protected. (#savethebees)

Also, talk about placement perfection!

4. Taurus (Apr. 20th-May 20th)

Those that are born under the sign of Taurus are signified as stabilizing forces, grounded by the earth sign. Of the twelve astrological signs, they are the anchors. Hold strong to your roots and know that you are deeply grounded in your position. Taurus individuals typically look for guidance and stability because they feel unstable, but know that everything you need is entirely within yourself already.

This next tattoo idea, then, a little tree, would remind you on a daily basis to the fact that while your feet may feel as if they are far from the ground, they aren’t. You remain tethered to your roots, deeply secured by that which is bigger than you, supporting you, nourishing you.

5. Gemini (May 21st-Jun. 20th)

Geminis are distinguished by the fact that their sign is a twin sign. Often, Geminis dip their hands in many projects and events so that they wish they could split themselves in order to get everything done. As a result, Geminis are highly adaptable to their conditions and have a strong desire to engage with others.

The next tattoo for Geminis is the pinky promise tattoo, one that you could get by yourself or maybe with your best friend. Regardless, this tattoo is a symbol of communication and connection between another or self. Geminis value both. It is your promise that your connection is strong, your love deep.

6. Cancer (Jun. 21st-Jul. 22nd)

I can tell you from experience, Cancers are nurturers by nature and can be extremely introverted; like the crab who sometimes crawls into its shell in fear, it takes a lot for Cancers to open up and engage with others. That said, their connections run deep once made and they do their absolute darndest to maintain their relationships.

I’m pulling from my own experiences, here, but as someone who often finds it very difficult to get out of her shell and find her inner confidence, I’ve been very inspired by delicate flower tattoos. To me, the quote that kept me up when I was in a very difficult place and when I didn’t know how to exist in my present moment, is, “Bloom where you are planted.”

Since first hearing that quote, I now have about three or so tattoos that remind to me bloom where I am planted, to find confidence where I am, in one moment, and maybe, just maybe little by little find the inner confidence that is in my nature, just as a flower’s instinct is to grow.

7. Leo (Jul. 23rd-Aug. 22nd)

Leos are full of intensity and radiance a fierce (lions!) personality, one I imagine is as radiant as the sun. Leos also have a flair for the dramatic, making themselves known in a room, not unlike the sun whose brilliant rays shine down upon us on a rainy day.

For Leos, the sun would represent a constant energy pulsing through one’s veins. Remind yourself constantly of what makes you you, what makes you radiant. Funnily enough, the sun is also Leo’s planetary ruler, making it a natural next tattoo for my Leo neighbour.

8. Virgo (Aug. 23rd-Sept. 22nd)

Virgos are the givers of the astrological chart. They are signified by a desire to serve others, as well as care for the wellbeing of others. They do good, honest work and believe in working hard. Naturally, the next tattoo for Virgos is inspired by giving hands, a beautiful symbol of their desire to serve.

Drawn delicately to only show the outline of one’s hands, offering up beautiful flowers signifies one’s offering to the world, in a sense offering the world, in its most beautiful form, to everyone. Virgos are nurturers by nature and helping others comes from the most honest and humble of places. Your next tattoo reflects this in the most beautiful way.

9. Libra (Sept. 23rd-Oct. 22nd)

Libra is signified for its penchant with justice and finding balance; its symbol is the Scales of Justice. Those born under the sign of Libra are often trying to find and restore the equilibrium in any situation, lookin at both sides and ensuring the scales do not tip to one side or another.

In a sense, Libra individuals extend an olive branch out to the other side, to the other person, allowing different perspectives to exist at once so as to maintain balance. Can you guess then what the next tattoo is for those born under the sign of Libra? Why, an olive branch, of course! The minute I considered what the traits of a Libra, I instinctively thought of an olive branch because in trying to restore balance to something, one is extending themselves outward, reaching out to another person, perspective or thing as a way to understand and engage it.

10. Scorpio (Oct. 23rd-Nov. 21st)

Scorpios are signified by energy and force; they are magnetic and desiring. The lightning bolt similarly symbolizes a kind of energy that Scorpios can relate to, since they are driven by force just as much as their drive force. Their is a magnetic pull to them that comes naturally.

Tap into your force field and spark electricity in your movements, blazing a trail in your wake.

11. Sagittarius (Nov. 22nd-Dec. 21st)

Symbolized by the archer, the Sagitarrius is always pointing in the direction of knowledge. Those born under the sign of Sagitarrius are often moving on an endless journey towards knowledge. They are always searching, seeking adventure and embracing encouragement.

The globe is the perfect symbol for the Sagitarrius individual who is naturally guided towards more knowledge, more adventure, more pursuits. Embrace your next adventure and keep the reminder close to your heart (and your skin) with this next tattoo.

12. Capricorn (Dec. 22nd-Jan. 19th)

Capricorns are notoriously ruled by their emotions, as well as some serious ambition. The moon is a symbol of intuition, and to help wield such ambition and harness emotion, Capricorns would benefit from turning more directly towards the moon, whether that’s literally or by getting a tattoo of the moon.

You will be at your most divine when taking your guidance from the moon and its powerful energy. It will promote clarity and continue to drive your ambition.
