Women’s Emergency Kit Every Man Should Have In Their Home
#RealTalk
Welcome to adulthood! First off, I would like to say that this is meant for any home of any man that has a mother, sisters, girl best friends, or girl significant others. Any situation where a woman is entering your man cave, this list is a must. Whether it is for an actual emergency – see point 8, or just to be extremely thoughtful – see points 6 and 9, having these things will create a more welcoming environment and help alleviate any stress she may face. Everything listed can either be put away in the bathroom or kept in an Emergency Kit bag under the sink. So, without further ado, here are 9 things every man should have in their women’s emergency kit!
1. Detangler Brush
https://www.tangleteezer.com/us/shop/detangling/the-original/pink-fizz/
I will never understand how some men don’t even have a brush in their bathroom. Or how they can just use a comb and call it a day. Not only do most women have more hair than the average man, but women’s hair also tends to be different because of how it is treated and taken care of. From using conditioner to detangler spray, using a blowing dryer to dry shampoo and hair spray – you name it! We do it.
So, instead of just offering whatever comb or brush you have or being confused in the cosmetics aisle, I highly – Highly! – recommend getting the original detangling brush by Tangle Teezer.
It can be used for wet or dry hair, with or without product, and it even helps with frizz. The shape makes it easy to use for everyone, with the material and design help it easily detangle knots, glide through hair from root to tip, and can be used like every other brush to help with styling. It is cheap, easy to clean, and even comes in black, (so it won’t clash with your manly bathroom).
2. Hair Ties

As mentioned, most women have longer hair than men and it gets put through the wringer when being taken care of and styled. I have found that one too many times at my boyfriend’s house I need a hair-tie during sex and for sleep. So, what I have linked above is the best of both worlds – able to tame the lion’s mane while also being damage-free.
These super soft elastics are wrapped in thick fabric, providing a sturdy hair-tie for all types and lengths of hair. They are comfortable yet fashionable and can be used for any activity, lasting through sex and sleeping overnight. With these, you can keep them on the cardboard in a medicine cabinet or toss them freely in the Emergency Kit under the sink.
Trust me, you will be a knight in shining armor if you have these lying around.
3. Makeup Brush And Remover
https://www.target.com/p/e-l-f-eyebrow-duo-brush/-/A-49129342#lnk=sametab
No, water isn’t enough to clean off makeup. No, water and soap may not even be enough to clean off makeup. Yes, even some makeup is made to be water-proof. Yes, women should be removing their makeup every night. So! I would do a clap-back saying These – Are – A – Must.
If you have regular visitors, you can always ask them what makeup remover they prefer or offer to keep extra in your place. But, in case there are new women in your life, I suggest the Garnier one linked above. It is a liquid makeup remover that can be used with q-tips, washcloths, or even wadded-up toilet paper, and is meant to remove all kinds of makeup all over the face. It is fragrance-free and sensitive, so should work for almost everyone.
As for the makeup brush listed above, this is just an extremely thoughtful add-on to the list. You may or may not be aware of how important eyebrows are when it comes to women’s appearance and use of makeup. Women invest a lot of time and money into making their eyebrows look perfect. So, I have listed my favorite brush for eyebrows – E.L.F. Cosmetic’s duo brush. The bristle end is perfect to brush through and shape eyebrows, no matter what type of makeup was or will be used. Plus, it’s super cheap, so why not?
4. Extra Toothbrush
https://www.target.com/p/manual-toothbrush-2ct-smartly-8482/-/A-75557208#lnk=sametab
I know there is a trope in movies, tv shows, and even books, that a girl leaving or having a toothbrush in their boyfriend’s place is a huge deal. But, it’s not. Toothbrushes, like the one listed above, can be cheap as fuck and is something everyone should be using. Sure, you can pick the pink ones listed, but it’s not like that really matters.
Having an extra toothbrush is something you should have anyway, but having one for a guest is the #SucessfullyAdulting thing to do. And think about it… if this is your significant other, do you really want to deal with the leftover tastes and smells? It is only $1 and it is better than them sneakily using yours.
5. Deodorant
Every woman’s body needs different things. (Some sweat more than others.) Every woman is different. (Some prefer one scent over another.) Every woman has different preferences. (I prefer men’s deodorant.) So, if you have regular visitors, ask them what they would like or offer to keep an extra in your bathroom.
As for everyone else, I suggest the antiperspirant/deodorant linked above. (Some brands are just deodorants, some are just antiperspirants, so for the sake of your lady, I would get a combo.) The Secret option listed is a long-lasting, fresh-scented, antiperspirant/deodorant duo, that is “invisible” so it shouldn’t show up on her clothes. Most women enjoy floral scents and rose is very popular. Sensitive to the skin, this is another Emergency Kit item that works for all activities.
6. Nail File
https://www.target.com/p/trim-metal-nail-file/-/A-77640444#lnk=sametab
The fact it is a metal nail file is super important, so don’t slack and get one of those flimsy cardboard ones.
It is not always this 90’s melodramatic “aww, I broke a nail!” Sometimes we need to file away rough edges that keep snagging on fabric or clean under nails in a way that soap can’t. This is one of the items on the list that I totally think should be adapted to men’s way of life, as well as having it available for women. Because, men or women, real or fake, nail health is important.
7. Matching Hand-soap And Lotion

https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/p/rose-hand-cream-026206437.html
This is probably the most uber-feminine point on this list. I would like to be clear, too, that it is not so much saying your soap is not good enough, rather that having the foaming soap and matching lotion is not just thoughtful, but kind and loving.
Just as women spend a lot of time and money worrying about their eyebrows, a lot of time and money is spent on our hands. I am not really sure why they are so important, but part of self-care and nightly routines is taking care of our hands with gentle soap, hand creams, manicures, and wrinkle care. Plus, there is just something about having scents leftover from food (like a burger) or whatever (like playing with a dog) that can make a woman uncomfortable
So! I have listed more rose options. There are a lot of combinations available from Bath And Body Works, however, so if there is a scent your women like better than others, go for it! The foaming soap is key, though you could get either the travel-sized hand lotion or body cream. (I may also suggest, in this time of COVID-19, the matching hand sanitizer. And, if you are feeling awfully generous, the travel-sized matching fragrance mist.)
8. Pads
If the regular ladies in your life have a preference, either provide what they need or ask them to bring extra to keep at your place. If not, I specifically linked the ones above for a reason:
The ones above are “Always” brand, which is extremely liked.
They are the “Infinity Flexfoam”, which means they are thinner and more comfortable but still extremely absorbent.
They are “Size 5” which are “Extra Heavy/Overnight”, which will work for every woman, no matter what kind of flow or activity.
They are pads rather than tampons because though tampon users would rather use tampons and think pads suck, pad users would rather make a toilet paper pad than use tampons.
Even for women who are on birth control and have a week set aside for their period, periods can still come at any time – day or night – within those seven days, (and can even extend beyond that time frame). Even though a woman’s cycle is supposed to be 28 days, there are many different factors that affect timing, length, amount, etc. Often periods are spotty, too, before or after, (so just when we think we are done, it comes back). And especially in this time of COVID-19 and there are no longer places open 24 hours, having feminine hygiene products available is extremely important.
It is better to have these sitting in the back of your cabinet under the sink than to have your girl stressing about what to do.
9. Three-wick Candle
https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/p/rose-water-and-ivy-3-wick-candle-026079429.html#q=rose&lang=en_US&start=24
I am not even going to lie, your room smells like dude, (in a bad way).
And though the monkey house effect has made it so you don’t know what that means, women – All Women – will notice and it is not so easy for us to trick our senses. So! You can go one of two ways… either you can pick a traditionally feminine scent to welcome family and friends, or you can pick a traditionally masculine scent to pleasantly surprise and coax your significant other.
The three-wick candles from Bath And Body Works are a great option because they can fill a whole room and are very long-lasting. I listed above the traditionally feminine scent of Rose Water & Ivy and the traditionally masculine scene of Mahogany Teakwood. And if neither of those tickle your fancy, there are a ton of other options in person or online, from there or other sources like Target.
Family, Friends, Significant Others…
All of them will be so very thankful you have this women’s emergency kit in your home! And everything can be ordered online and delivered right to your door. Comment below any more ideas from your girls to help other bros out and keep an eye on Society19 for more men’s lifestyle tips!
