Wireless Carriers for Students
Is it T-Mobile or Sprint or AT&T or Verizon Wireless? The answer is simple — if you are on your parents family plan stay on it. But now that you are a student there are a whole bunch of deals and discounts on your wireless service and even if you are on a family plan your family take advantage of the discounts because of your student status. If you are not a student then there maybe discounts on your AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile bills. Here is how to get them and which wireless carrier is best for you.
If you are not on your parents plan or if you are an international student and you are looking for a wireless provider the best one for your money is going to be T-Mobile. It is not only the uncarrier moves they have made recently but also the substance behind it. If you travel overseas T-Mobile will not charge you for low speed data and will charge you very reduced rates for voice and text when you are roaming. Please make sure the countries you will be visiting are listed on their web site.
All carriers have pretty much lowered their rates and now pretty much competing on price. If you want to know the quality of the coverage and which carrier is the best network provider you can do research by obtaining the latest coverage situation on each carriers web site.
But generally speaking the network quality goes something like this. Verizon, AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint. If you are in a big city you probably don’t care about this listing because the wireless carriers cover the urban areas first and foremost. From a data coverage perspective – I read these comments about which carrier is the fastest, etc. I think it is completely irrelevant because you have free wifi where ever you go these days. And in the case of T-Mobile network coverage is great when you have wifi because they have wifi calling on most popular devices including the iPhone.
So do the math and go with the least expensive option and avoid Sprint as they are rebuilding their network so their network quality may not be as good for now. Updated – both T-Mobile and Sprint has been updating their networks at a very rapid pace. So the network coverage has been updated and they should provide decent coverage, check the coverage maps on their website.
