The Top 8 Winter Travel Destinations

Summer isn’t the only time for travelling, in fact travelling in winter opens up to experiences you’ve never even dreamt of before! Here are my top suggestions for your winter travel destinations this December.

1. Breckenridge, Colorado

For the ski lover and the non ski lovers, this place has it all. One of the countries most beloved skiing destinations. For clear, star filled skies and sunsets like you’ve never seen before this is perfect for the sporty people who want to make the most out of the winter weather.

2. Quebec City, Canada

The old historic buildings decked out in Christmas lights and decorations make up for the chilly weather. For a cute charming city, rich in French influence then Quebec is the city for you. Experience how it feels to step into an old European painting and you’ll never want to leave.

3. Germany

This is a top winter destination for a very obvious reason, CHRISTMAS MARKETS! If you have been to a Christmas Market before then you will understand that it becomes a yearly tradition and Christmas won’t feel the same without it. Why not visit the country ‘German Christmas Markets’ originated from. Get some hot chocolate, try traditional dishes and embrace your inner child.

4. New York

New York is a stunning city all year round however it lights up like you have never seen it before during Christmas. The energy is infectious, the vibe is different and it feels like another world. A city where almost anything is possible and experiences are right under you nose. Definitely a place you want to be during the winter seasons.

5. Abisko, Sweden

If you are a serious winter person then Lapland is the place for you! Did you know that the sun doesn’t rise for several weeks throughout December and January which makes it one of the best places to watch the aurora borealis! If you haven’t heard of this then I am sorry to inform you that you have been living under a rock. The Northern Lights as they can be known is, arguably, the worlds greatest spectacle and should be on the top of everyone’s bucket list!

6. Rovaniemi, Finland

Known as the ‘official’ terrestrial residence of Santa Clause, this is a great place to be in Winter! With snow, reindeer and even a chance to visit the man himself it is perfect for family and friends or anyone wanting to experience a Christmas movie in real life! This is one of the best winter travel destinations!

7.  Cape Town, South Africa

For those looking to escape the winter weather rather than embrace it then visit South Africa where they experience Summer from December to February. Relax on their luscious beaches, explore the beautiful scenery and experience a very vibrant culture. Swap hot chocolate for a cocktail by the pool and change from jumpers to dresses. After a holiday here you will forget what winter even looks like.

8. London, England

Watch as the streets of London literally light up like a Christmas tree. Watch it transform from a busy city to something from a novel. Winter brings a new vibe to this capital city and if you like the hustle and bustle and still want to truly embrace winter then this is the perfect place to spend your time. You will also get to witness how different cultures spend their winter and Christmas as this diverse city brings everyone together. Winter Wonderland is one of the most talked about attractions and it is a great place to get in the mood for Christmas and New Year! Don’t miss it!
