12 Winter Jackets You’ll Want To Be Wearing For Colder Weather

Sadly, Summer is coming to a quick end. Those warm Summer nights will soon be over. And with changing weather comes changing wardrobes. Winter jackets are the perfect clothing piece to help you transition your outfits over into the colder seasons. Jackets can add warmth, but also can spice up and add a finishing touch to your look. Having a few staple jackets will be essential for your Fall and Winter wardrobe.

1. Denim jacket

Denim jackets are about as casual as it gets when it comes to jackets. They can be layered almost over everything. They add a cute and laid back touch. Denim jackets can help you easily transition your Summer outfits. They can be paired with dresses, skirts, shorts and jeans as well. You really can’t wrong here. However, I recommend not matching your denim jacket with the same wash of jeans. Jeans are best paired with a white or black denim jacket, in order to avoid looking too matchy matchy. They’re available in several washes. You can choose from light, dark, white, black or acid washed denim jackets depending on what best fits your style.

2. Bomber jacket

Bomber jackets are better for colder weather. They are super cute when layered over a top and jeans or leggings. They also provide a more casual look. Bomber jackets come in all colors. I own an army green and black one and find they go with almost everything. Affordable options can be found at stores like Forever 21 and H&M. They also have fun varieties with patches and embroidering if you’re looking for a jacket that’s more on the fun side.

3. Zip-up hoodie

Hoodies are a must have for college students. I prefer zip-up hoodies for Fall. They can easily be taken on and off, which is perfect for afternoons that still get hot. H&M has endless varieties in all colors at an affordable price. Layering a hoodie over a basic tank top or shirt is an easy everyday look for class.

4. Pullover hoodie

Another variation of the classic hoodie. Pullover hoodies are the epitome of comfort. I always rely on these for colder days. You really can’t go wrong with a pullover hoodie and a pair of leggings and sneakers. They look cute, but are still comfortable winter jackets. They are a must have for casual days of running errands or going to class. Putting on a hoodie requires almost no thought to be put into your outfit, which is another bonus.

5. Blazer

Blazers are perfect for more dressy occasions. They add a more sophisticated look to any outfit. They’re perfect for work and nights out. Pairing a blazer with a nice pair of pants or even jeans and heels is a simple, but very put together look.

6. Puffer jacket

Puffy jackets are a Winter staple. For colder climates, these are a must have. Investing in at least one nice, warm jacket is a necessity. Popular brands include North Face and Patagonia. These jackets can often be a little on the pricey side, but the will be well worth it on those freezing days and nights to come.

7. Army jacket

Army jackets are a cute touch to add to nearly any outfit. They look adorable with a top, jeans and boots. They are pretty lightweight, so they are good for the Fall time, before temperatures get too cold.

8. Corduroy jacket

I recently added a corduroy jacket from Zara to my collection and have been getting so much use out of it. They aren’t as common as more popular jackets, like bombers and denim ones. They add a more unique touch, but are still very easy to pair with outfits. My favorite look has been my tan corduroy jacket with black jeans and a pair of sneakers. I also cuff the sleeves for a more casual look.

9. Windbreaker

This isn’t the warmest type of  jacket by any means, but it’s a great option for rainy days. You can find both zip-up and pullover windbreakers. They’re water repellent, which is great to keep you dry on stormy days where you have to leave your house. I recommend looking for ones with a hood in order to keep your hair and face dry in the rain.

10. Leather jacket

A leather jacket is a classic that will never go out of style. It should be in every girl’s wardrobe. There are endless options for both faux and real leather jackets, which make it easy to find one that works for you without breaking the bank. Leather jackets are great for cold nights where you want to go out and be warm, but still want to look dressed up. My go to going out outfit always involves a cute top, jeans, a leather jacket and heels or booties.

11. Faux fur jacket

Faux fur and fuzzy jackets were all the rage last Winter and will be on trend again this year. These Teddy coats are so cute, but are also very effective at beating the cold. They are stylish and make your outfits stand out. They’re a great staple piece and can help you if you get tired of repeating the same jackets over and over. These types of jackets are the cure for any boring or plain outfit.
