Winter 2019 Bag Trends We’re Obsessing Over

The second half of year trends have arrived and with that, we have got new bag trends to obsess over! This winter of 2019 we have it all, from returning bag trends to new twists on old trends that have evolved into a whole new way as how we see bags. Let’s not forget that bags are not only a really useful accessory to carry your stuff around but a big part of your outfit that can really elevate it. This season brings a more serious approach between colors and prints, but they are still quite elegant and can match every outfit you decided to wear.

Don’t think that this season’s bag trends come boring since we can still find some oddly shaped bags, prints like animal print that has been very popular all year round, tiny bags that are more a statement than useful and materials that range from fuzzy to exotic leather. Definitely, there will be a bag trend to match everyone’s taste this winter season!

1. Bag Fuzz

These bags that feel as if we could just snuggle them are key elements, we saw a lot during this fall/winter 2019 fashion runways. These bags are made out of materials like faux fur, shearling and lots of fuzzy textures in different ways. From just the flap to the complete bag or presented in different ways like cotton ball like or just free-falling fur you can find lots of variety on this bag trend. For inspiration you can check out the runways of brands like Fendi, Channel or Off White to see some examples of the fuzzy bag trend. We recommend using only fake fur bags or one that is made of synthetic materials since we don’t support animal cruelty at all.

2. Mini-Micro Bags

Last season we saw lots of small bags on the runway shows, but this winter season we have even smaller version of this pretty bags. Of course, we know these mini bags are just for carry a small amount of cash and maybe some credit cards, there’s the other version of this trend that involves micro bags. Micro bags are so tiny they fit in just between our fingers and we are not sure we can carry more than a small coin on them. While these mini or micro bags cannot be as functional as we wish they certainly are a huge statement piece. You can carry them across your hips, neck or in your hand which gives them versatility.  Salvatore Ferragamo, Jacquemus and Carolina Herrera presented some of our favorite mini-micro bags, be sure to check those out!

3. Accordion Bags

With a bit of creative folding these accordion bags are just what their name says. And probably what we will be wanting to get this season as well. From dramatic accordion bags to ones that look as if they were made to carry lots of documents, we saw a lot of this bag trend on the last runways, including brands from designers like Gabriela Hearst, Y/project and Jil Sander. These bags were featured in a wide of neutral tones including, black, wine, brown beige and mustard. And besides their complicated structures they remain quite simple on their design, yet they will look super elegant with whatever outfit you decide to rock them, especially if you have a meeting or a business lunch.

4. Hands-Free Bags

Belt bags are still a strong trend this season. It’s just that now they have been joined by other hands-free bags that can be attached not only to your waits, but to your boots as seen in Prada’s military inspired runway. Bags were also featured as a scarf, vests and the usual belt bags in different runways. Our favorite bags that were inspired by this trend include the ones presented on Roberto Cavalli, Dior and Maryam Nassir Zadeh. This bag trend is not only super cute and a statement to wear, but it is as always, a handy way to carry your things around without having your hands full all the time. If you have to go to a concert or run lots of errands, and by errands we mean lots of shopping, be sure to have one of these trendy bags!

5. Three Dimensional Florals

Floral prints are always a classy thing we all should have at least one bag that features this print in our wardrobe as our go to item. This winter season took the simple floral look and elevated it to the next level by creating three-dimensional flower motives that seem as if someone just cut a flower from the garden and paste it on top of the bags. Some of the bags as presented in runways from famous designers like Oscar de la Renta or Tory Burch had satin plain bags decorated with elegant appliques that resemble a bouquet. This representation added not only an elegant touch to simple everyday bags, but it turned them into a romantic expression of winterly trends that we can’t wait to see more of!

One thing that will never go out of season, since it has been reinvented over and over, are crystal clear bags. And honestly, we couldn’t be more relive since this trend in particular is such a gorgeous one!  From the runways of Christopher Kane, Brandon Maxwell and Area, we saw lots of ways of carrying a crystal-clear bag. And the best part is that they can complement from high fashion looks, with a simple square transparent and gold bag, to a ready to party bag with long jewel fringes. In this bag trend you will find one for every taste since bags where presented in a wide range of colors, sizes and shapes!

7. Unique Shaped Bags

Sometimes we tend to think that bags only come in basic geometrical shapes, well this trend of the winter season prove us wrong! We founded bags that didn’t really resemble purses in runways from amazing designers like Moschino who brought us a huge USA dollar bill bag. Or From designers like Thom Browne who decided to bring back the dog purses we probably all had or wanted one when we were kids. This bag trend in particular it’s just for those risky fashion lovers who don’t mind thinking outside of the box!
