Why You Should Start Meal-Prepping

Have you ever checked your bank statements at the end of the month and realized you spent $256 on fast-food over the course of the month? I have. I even felt personally attacked just typing that, but that’s beside the point.
I’m willing to bet that we’ve all been there at one point. Maybe not to the magnitude of spending $250, but the feeling at least. And if you are anything like me, it’s been times where you can’t find out why you always seem to end up in the Chick-Fil-A drive-thru every other day.
Well here’s news: there’s a way you could not only save money but also save calories at the same time. It’s called meal-prepping and this article details the reasons why it should become your best friend. This could potentially be a step toward you living your best life, so check these out and consider implementing them into your lifestyle!

Puts You On A Schedule

One thing mean-prepping definitely involves is consistency. In order to reap the full benefits, you’ll need to make it a habit and remain consistent for sure. Once you do conquer that stage of the process, you’ll quickly see that meal-prepping essentially puts your life on a schedule and makes it hard for you to drift off track. You’re likely to develop a routine on when to eat, and you’ll gain a sense of satisfaction knowing that there will always be a meal waiting on you in the fridge. Not only that but with everything already made and prepped, all you have to do is heat it up! No wait times!

Saves You Money

The money aspect of meal-prepping is arguably the most beneficial to most people who do it. Here’s a great example to put things into perspective for you: would you rather spend $8 on a meal at Chick-Fil-A or $8 on a bag of salmon? Before you answer, I get it. With Chick-Fil-A, you don’t have to take the time to cook and their drive-thru lines are always speedy, so the convenience is unmatched.
Think long-term though. That meal may satisfy you for a few hours. But afterward, you’ll be back at square one. Then, you’ll end up back in the drive-thru increasing your grand total to $16.
Instead, exercise a little patience and consider buying the bag of salmon. A one-pound bag has the potential of lasting you a week or so, so you won’t have to worry about wasting the time, money at gas it takes to go through the Chick-Fil-A drive-thru three to four times a week. Plus, it’s healthier! But we’ll get more into that in the next point.

Get Healthy!

A sad reality to fast-food is the fact that most times, one meal contains a caloric value that’s supposed to last you an entire day, if not more. Consistently having your diet consist of fast-foods is a sure path to failure. How do you expect to live your best life like that?
Again, meal-prepping is your best friend here. Look up a few recipes and brush up on your cooking skills! Try a different recipe every week. You might find that you like something new!

Stay Committed

Adopting a habit of meal-prepping clearly has the ability to help in several different areas of your life. I’ve noted mental, financial and physical benefits in this article alone! And you’re sure to find more benefits that are personal to you and your lifestyle once you start the process. Just remember, remain consistent, avoid temptation and live your best life!
