Why This Generation Needs To Stop Using The Word “Woke”

We all have excessively heard or used the word woke. To be “woke” in this generation, is to mean that one is highly aware of the things that take place in our society i.e. racism, inequality and so forth. The problem though, is that this generation, has 100% over-used and misconstrued the word! Because of this, the word needs to be retired immediately!

For some reason, people that love using and saying “woke” in everything, thinks it helps solidifies their “woke-ness”, it does not! And what happens a lot times too is, people love hopping on using a trendy word without actually living and showcasing the word’s meaning.

It is rare to find an IG picture or FB post, without “woke” being attached to it.

Everyone is proclaiming and shouting from the rooftops, how “woke” they are! And nine times out of ten, they are the complete opposite of “woke”, they are fucking sleep! You’ve seen the posts, a friend will post some overly deep meme and caption it “woke”, or someone will write a status about why being vegan is the best way of life and hashtag “woke” at the end of it :rolls eyes:.

What can be even more so annoying and aggravating about this generation, is how we love to take a word, make it a “trendy term” and then abuse its true intent. Being “woke” on all the various societal injustices that occur in our world, is a great and necessary way to be “woke”! Being “woke” on how you can get the latest Jordan’s earlier than their release on a certain website, is a terrible way to be “woke” and you should slap yourself!

So, stop proclaiming to be “woke” when you’re not and stop hash-tagging it in your posts to make yourself seem more intellectual than you actually are!
