Why Love Island Just Became Your New Guilty Pleasure

So let me be the first person to introduce you to the American version of Love Island, a popular show in the UK that has now shaken up our reality TV airwaves. We may have Are You the One? or the most popular The Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises but this show introduces us to a whole new twist on finding love on a TV show. Find out below why it might just become your guilty pleasure!

1. Holy Hotness

Okay, so this show is obviously one of the most superficial of reality TV shows. But it’ll without a doubt give you your fill of hotness for the day. Basically, everyone on the show is godly with sculpted abs and 10 out of 10 bodies. That being said the heteronormative is at a high dosage so if it isn’t your thing then that’s okay, but it is still fun to watch hot people try to find love.

2. OMD (Oh My Drama)

The twist: the show begins with four OG girls and four OG guys who pair up on the first day. But every week a new set of two girls or two guys will enter the Love Island villa with intentions of love. Since the show is on every single night, the girls and guys have a week to make a connection with someone for the pairing up at the end of the week when couples will be re-paired or kept the same as the week before.

It is a whole lot of drama and loving in the name of reality TV. It is truly unlike anything we have ever seen before.

3. Voting Baby!

One amazing part of the show: America can vote to send people on dates and so on. It feels interactive and like we get to play a part in the little love game we watch on TV. It bridges a connection between us and the TV personalities we watch by being able to decide who gets the good loving.

4. I Hope You Like Corny Jokes

The app online is corny, and oh my is the narrator corny. It’s corny but it’s fun! It makes it irresistible in the most entertaining way. When the narrator makes fun of the facial expressions people make or the things they do with some corny and shady jokes, it makes Love Island the best show to experience and laugh at…while also falling in love with the actual love people are growing into and finding.

5. It’s On Every Weeknight!

Again, Love Island is on every night of the week, Monday through Friday! You don’t have to wait a whole other week to find out how the next biggest piece of goss in the Villa. However, they turn up the suspense while you’re waiting day-to-day to find out who’s going to be into which new girl or guy.

You’re wondering how the vote you made that night will turn out the next day. And don’t get me started about Fridays, finding out on Monday how the re-coupling is going to work out really sends you through a spiral.

This show will mess with all of your other regularly scheduled shows, as it should. It is well worth spending an hour every night from 8-9 pm watching this wildly unique reality TV show. The hot bodies will catch your eye, and the love and drama will be bringing you back for more every night. It’s safe to say that it’s only been a week of watching Love Island and I am personally obsessed.

Have you already started watching Love Island? If you have, tell us which couple is your favorite!
