Why Going To School In A Big City Is The Best

Where you chose to go to school not only determines your academic career, but also your future lifestyle. Going to school in a big city versus a small town will impact the kinds of people you’re friends with, your extracurricular activities, future career options and so much more. Going to school in a big city is an experience like no other that every student should be able to experience once in their lifetime; whether for a semester or your entire degree. Here are some reasons why going to school in a big city is the best.

It feels like there’s more to your life than just school.

Going to school in a big city helps make you feel like there’s more to life than just school. With so many other people, activities and alternative busyness constantly surrounding you, you’re sure to focus on more than just your textbooks. Going to school in a big city helps broaden your horizons to other important things in life and inspires you to zone in on these things as well. Going to school in a big city is sure to help make you a more interesting, well-rounded person and from going crazy focusing just on school.

You have infinite possibilities for meeting new, interesting people.

Going to school in a big city gives you so many more opportunities to meet cool, new people who you wouldn’t normally get the chance to meet. You’ll be exposed to people who are different than you and those who you grew up with. By being surrounded by such different people, and not only students like you but people of all career and life paths that vary from yours,  you’re perspective on all things school and life will be challenged and influenced in both good and bad ways. This will help you grow and change as an individual in all the healthy ways.

Another pro to going to school in a big city is that there are way more chances of finding friends you connect with. And if you don’t have luck with certain people, its comforting to know that there are so many others around to try to befriend. Not to mention breakups in small towns are the worst. You don’t have to worry about the little things like this while going to school in a big city.

There are way more opportunities available.

Academically, career-wise and artistically speaking, going to school in a big city will have bear infinitely more opportunities and life paths than any small town could. Whether it’s during your degree or after you graduate, you will be surrounded by so many possibilities and options for things that will help kick-start your life. From starting your career, getting that internship you’ve always dreamed of or even displaying your art in a grander community, the chances of you coming across new connections and being able to network with more people are way higher and more convenient than if you were going to school in a small town.

So much more to do than in small towns.

An obvious, but very important, benefit of going to school in a big city is that there are just so many more fun, exciting new things to do to occupy your free time. From different bars and clubs, parks, cafes, restaurants- you name it. There is just nothing that compares to going to school in a big city and having a plethora of new things to keep you busy and happy while your not focusing on school. Small towns are great and all but they really can’t compare. Who wants to stick to the same five bars or cafes to hang out in when you could have so much more.
