Some may hate the idea of thrift shop and some may love it, it can be an acquired taste but as you get the hang of it you won’t be able to stop! Thrifting your clothes brings so many things into your life, for instance you learn how to shop on a budget, which most of us could learn to do. You see a wide variety of clothes and may find things you never knew you loved or needed, because not only is there a wide variety of selections between the shirts, pants and shoes you will find but its an eclectic selection of clothing, styles you’ve never seen or styles you want to try. Shopping second hand gives you the upper hand in finding original taste in clothes and you won’t be dressing like everyone else.
What goes out in fashion always comes back around, even if its decades later. People try to keep up with the times in everything and that includes fashion, so you know people are going to be going through their clothes and getting rid of them. As the sayings go, out with the old and in with the new, new to you at least. This being your time to swipe in and bring in those golden items, what is one man’s trash is another mans treasure.
Finding clothing articles that you may not see usually together or patterns and textures that most people would never wear. You get to stand out and be unique in your own style by thrifting off other people’s looks. Another great part of second thrift shop is the vintage you never knew was there. Snagging vintage items at the thrift stores is like finding a diamond, they are timeless pieces that never go out of style and you would be lucky to find! Now in retrograde, vintage is considered to be 20 years before its present day, so it doesn’t need to go way back to be vintage but also the older it is the further back you get to travel in time.
Although you may not think you would find designer clothing such as Michael Kors, Zara, Calvin Klein, Dolce and Gabbana at second hand store, you are wrong. You would be surprised at some of the designer treasure you will find while thrifting! Depending on where you’re from, obviously cities like New York and LA are more high fashion, where there is a good chance that you are likely to come across more and a selection of the high-end items but if you are willing to take the time and for your sake some patience. You will come out with some cool stuff that you didn’t know you could pull together and open your eyes to a whole new set of fashion.
You can find at times that you are pleasantly surprised in your findings and come out with some gold but like everything it takes time. Hours escape you as your thrifting through the shelf’s and the clothing racks looking for those unrepeatable clothing items that you couldn’t find anywhere else.
If you have some down time, a day off or just in the shopping mood, go take a look at your cities second hand stores and see what treasures await you. Some thrift stores even sell more than just clothing items, you can make thrifting a life style with not only your clothes but you can style of your whole space to fit your unique style!
