LA is full of single people who suck at dating. Like any other major city, there are plenty ways to meet new people. Dating here is make you an emotional wreck. Majority of the people I’ve met have gotten ghosted after the first date! People tend to use dating apps like Tinder and Bumble to help them hunt for the hottest guy and girl in the city. Living in LA gives you the opportunity to date some really attractive and important people but that comes with catch! Here are a few reasons why dating in LA is trash!
LA doesn’t have the best public transportation system so it is a major necessity to have a car which leads to you being stuck in traffic. The city is spread out into 5 divisions. People tend to date within a 4 mile radius of their home. Imagine instantly connecting with someone but immediately becoming turned off after finding out they live in WeHo and you live in DTLA. That’s a 40 minute drive with traffic and 22 minutes without! Why should I waste my gas money, when I can go on Tinder and swipe right to find a closer match.
Expect to date someone who will only date you for clout. A lot of people move to LA to become famous. Some people work their way to fame while others date, fuck, and scheme their way to the top. Dating an LA clout chaser consist of them asking you “How many followers do you have on Instagram?”, if the answer is below 25,000 followers expect to be friendzoned or blocked! Stay away from clout chasers, they are opportunist. Clout chasers will date you just to take pictures in your apartment or car to take Instagram pictures and steal your followers. This is definitely one of the most annoying things about dating in LA.
LA is the mecca of the entertainment industry. There’s a high chance of dating someone whos working in the industry. Industry people vary from the busy executive to the production assistant of a daytime tv show. Networking and attending industry parties are the perks of dating someone in the industry. Do not expect them to take the relationship seriously, they will put work as a main priority over the relationship. If they sense a small hint of someone being clingy expect being ghosted after the first date.
LA is notorious when it comes to flakey people! Flakes are basically people who back out for plans last minute. Flaking is just as hurtful as ghosting. This can be relatable for dating and friendships. People will set up a date and time to hang at the Santa Monica Pier and flake on you 5 minutes before the set time. Some people are fine with being flaked on. Every Time I’ve been flaked, I’ve texted guys a list of reasons why they’re trash. If someone flakes on you just curse them out and block them. Why make me waste my time sitting in traffic, when I could be at home binge watching a show. This is literally SO annoying, but classic while dating in LA.
Living in LA means that you’re surrounded by beautiful people everywhere. You can be on a date talking about the show Insecure while your date is looking around the restaurant trying to find someone more attractive than you. Shallow people usually make an exception when it comes to looks if that person has money. I’ve met girls who will only date guys who have dimples and a strong jawline. They don’t mind if his personality is trash, as long he has the looks. Sometimes people won’t date you because of your fashion sense. If you’re not wearing the latest trends, don’t expect a right swipe on Tinder. I honestly think that shallow people do it for social media. They want to be the next power couple of Instagram.
