With advanced transportation, limited time, and busy schedules, the idea of a road trip is almost laughable nowadays, but is something you should carve out time to do. Whether it’s across the country or just for a weekend, here’s why a roadtrip with friends is necessary:
The primary reason why a roadtrip with friends is necessary is due to the bonding experience you will have. Nothing brings people closer together than the tight confinements of a car and the anxiousness of hours in a car. True personalities will come out, people will fight, but ultimately you and your friends will ideally grow closer together through thick and thin. If a road trip doesn’t bring you guys closer together then it will at the very least paint a picture of who and who isn’t your best friends and who and who you don’t get along with regularly.
Most road trips seem to be planned for sightseeing and though that may be exaggerated, is not entirely false. A road trip is the easiest way to visit as many sights as possible. With a road trip you won’t be confined to a specific area and can have the freedom to roam around as much or as little as you’d like. Explore the pacific northwest, southwest, or northeast, or experience them all. On a road trip nothing is too crazy and there’s always time for one more stop, whether that may be a national park, monument, or just a quaint little town.
The opportunity to go on a road trip with friends is only one that can be experienced in early adulthood so the window to go is small. Theoretically you could take the trip whenever, but generally, once past 25, busy schedules conflict and time doesn’t line up. If you’re ever on the fence about a road trip with friends it’s best to just pull the trigger; You’ll never know when the opportunity will come up again, and it will be an unforgettable experience.
Travelling somewhere via plane, bus, or train can be easier or quicker, but none offer the flexibility that a car offers. With a car, you can stop practically whenever and wherever, plus it can be a cost-effective way to travel. There’s no worry about scheduling or planning with a car; Live spontaneously and let your trip be defined by the people you’re with and not the places you go.
A road trip is a perfect time and place to unplug from the everyday buzz and stress of society. Taking a road trip with your friends can be an opportunity to live without your phone and be able to connect with each other instead. A road trip should always be a time of exploring and discovering and doing so with your head buried in a phone is very unlikely. If you ever decide to take a road trip with friends plan to do so without using electronics and you will find that you’ll have a much deeper and more meaningful experience.
Let’s be honest: When you’re in your young twenties you’ll most likely be balling on a budget. Everyone loves to travel with their friends but nobody wants to spend $1000 on a trip with plane tickets, hotel rooms, and food costs. A road trip is a cheap way to have a good time with your friends, and the change of scenery is always nice.
