Where you Should Travel in New England
Travel in New England
Summer can be very relaxing, and you may enjoy your hometown, but not all of us do. Sometimes we need a change of scenery and a short quick getaway to recharge us and truly allow us to relax and enjoy summer. I’m not saying you must go far either, especially if you are from New England. Plenty of dreamy beaches surrounding you will offer you the perfect oasis and slice of heaven. Or maybe you are looking for a fun bar and beach scene to keep your summer night and days full of fun. Use these recommendations to figure out where you should travel in New England.
1. Newport
If you want to travel in New England, I recommend Newport, Rhode Island is the perfect combination of everything someone could need for a summer weekend away. Newport has fantastic shops, restaurants, beaches, bars, and mansions! Yes, mansions! Even if you get to Newport and the weather is not what you were hoping for, there are still fun things to do! You can visit and take tours of the mansions in Newport. These are so fun and stunning. The best part is you don’t even have to plan or make a reservation for it. You can show up and take a tour lead through a recording. And let me tell you, they are fascinating and truly gorgeous. If the weather is nice, you have plenty of public beaches to choose from, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd beaches. These beaches are fantastic and offer to park if you need it, but I recommend walking to the beach so that you don’t have to pay for parking. There are also plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from! One of my personal favorites is Scaled and Shells! They have many fantastic seafood dishes and are known for their Seafood Fra’Diavalo! Delicious! If you are anything like me, you may be craving a nice drink after a lovely day sitting outside in the sun. Check these bars for great nightlife: Por Judgement, O’Brien’s Pub, The Fastnet Pub, and more! Maybe you’re not in the mood for a cold beverage and prefer a sweet treat! Make sure to stop by the Cookie Jar for amazing cookies of different flavors. They are to die for! If you find yourself wanting to travel in New England, make sure to check out Newport, Rhode Island.
2. Watch Hill
If you are trying to travel in New England and look for a slower-paced getaway, I would tell you to take a drive to Watch Hill, Rhode Island. This is a chill beach town with great shopping, restaurants, and beaches! And if you are a Taylor Swift fan, this location is a must! Take a drive and see her home in the center of Watch Hill. Most fans will remember this house where she used to throw her massive 4th of July party for a few years with a bunch of her celebrity besties! You will also be able to understand and experience her song “The Last Great American Dynasty.” So, I’m telling you that if you are a Taylor Swift fan, the number one place you should travel to in New England is Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Trust me; you won’t forget it! And if that’s not enough, head down to their gorgeous beaches! You can go to the public beach for free or pay for a day pass to enjoy the private beach! Make sure to walk through the strip to enjoy all the fantastic shopping that they have to offer! I highly recommend going in to shop at Rochelle’s Boutiques! After sitting in the sun for a few hours, you may want to grab a bite to eat. Stop at St. Claires Annex for fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, ice cream, and more. Or walk down and sit at the Olympia tearoom for a great lunch or dinner. There are also a few delis to choose from if you prefer your standard sandwich. If you are traveling with kids, you should also check out the carousel! If you are looking for a quick day trip, travel to New England to Watch. Hill for the perfect day!
3. Martha’s Vineyard
In my opinion, at the very least, every New Englander needs to travel to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. First, travel in New England by taking a ferry ride to Martha’s Vineyard. With multiple ferry options visiting Martha’s Vineyard is a must and makes it so easy to see. This perfect destination will have you genuinely enjoying the New England experience. Take a trip to the carousel, go shopping, explore all the towns, take a quick drive up to Gay Head, and enjoy the beaches and fabulous restaurants the island offers. So much to do in Martha’s Vineyard. Next, take a trip to Back Door Donuts for some of the best donuts and apple fritters you have ever had. Feel free to go to Back Door Donuts during their regular hours, but I recommend you stop by the bakery at night. You should pull up to the bakery from the back entrance, and you will find that they are selling fresh donuts and baked goods! You will see that there is a long line. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED! Please wait in line. It’s worth it! Another must is to go to Murdick’s Fudge! Please stop and watch them make the fudge and leave with a couple of flavors. This is the perfect treat to keep in your fridge and snack on after a nice long beach day! Lastly, please stop by Jaws bridge! If you love old movies and shark movies, then you are familiar with Martha’s Vineyard. The movie Jaws was filmed at Martha’s Vineyard, and there is a famous bridge that appears in the film! Be sure to check it out! Martha’s Vineyard is the perfect place to travel in New England for a lovely summer getaway and treats!
If you want to travel in New England, I highly recommend visiting Newport, Watch Hill, and Martha’s Vineyard.
