What You’ll Need In Order To Throw The Most Epic Mardi Gras Party

In America, New Orleans is the best place to be for celebrating Mardi Gras, which takes place each year in late February. Mardi Gras takes place the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Given how big and packed the Mardi Gras celebrations are down in New Orleans, one can still have a great time by throwing a lit Mardi Gras Party with his/her family and close friends.

Mardi Gras is the French Term for Fat Tuesday and is the last day that people (mostly those who are religious and actually participate) can consume rich and fatty foods before the ritual fasting. Those who participate in Lent cannot eat those rich and fatty foods again until Easter Sunday.

Now, with that being said, read below to find out what 7 Items/Things That You Will Need In Order To Throw The Most Epic Mardi Gras Party:

1. Party Decorations in the Traditional Mardi Gras Colors:

In terms of the decorations and food and drink stationery items for your Mardi Gras Party, make sure they are in the colors of gold, green, and purple. These three colors are traditional Mardi Gras colors and each has specific meanings: Gold for power; green for faith, and purple for justice.

The reason behind those three colors being seen as the Mardi Gras Colors stems from the reported rumors of the welcoming committee of Grand Duke Alexis handing out gold, green, and purple beads to the party-goers when The Grand Duke visited New Orleans in 1872. Those three colors were the same colors of Grand Duke Alexis’s home. Having your Mardi Gras party decorations in the colors of gold, green, and purple is a fantastic way to pay homage to the history of Fat Tuesday!
