The answer is simple: DON’T DO IT. Ghosting is probably one of the biggest crimes you can commit when it comes to dating/being in a relationship with someone. Everyone deserves an explanation, even if it’s a quick text. It’s time to man up, and figure out the best way to end things without falling off the face of the earth. Here are 10 different scenarios and exactly what to do if you’re thinking of ghosting someone.
Seriously, it takes almost no effort to send a text and say, “Hey, I have been thinking and I really don’t think we should hangout anymore”, or something along those lines. You don’t have to be mean about it and you don’t have to disappear.
There’s a thin line between a girl that’s really into you and a girl who is just really, REALLY needy. If you feel like they’ve crossed that line, you can do two things. If you’re into them, you can straight up tell them that you think you’ve been hanging out too much or need to just take a breather for a few days. But, if you aren’t feeling things, let them know that they’re a great girl/guy but you don’t want to be dating/hooking up anymore. Plain and simple.
No one likes to feel like someone is suffocating them, especially if you just started dating. Just say, “Hey, I have a lot going on right now and it’s not the best time for me to be dating someone.” Keep it right to the point because you don’t want to drag them along with false hope.
So, you’ve gotten out of a relationship and you’re trying to move on with Tinder and Bumble dates. You need to put yourself in the position of the girl you’re going on dates with. You wouldn’t want to be dragged into something when she wasn’t 100% into it, would you? So, don’t do the same to her. Give yourself time to get over your ex before you start dating.
Be open when you’re meeting girls or guys and let them know that you literally are just looking to hook up. You may come off kind of douchey, but at least you’re honest. It’s a lot better to put it out there then having to be in a situation where you feel like you need to ghost a girl/guy because she/he wants more. It’s a win-win for everyone if you’re honest.
So, you’ve been on multiple dates in the last few months with this girl/guy. They’re awesome, but you can see that they really want a relationship and you really just wanted to have someone to hangout with and hook up with. That’s not fair to anyone and you’re being a bit of an asshole. You need to let them know (even if you’ve said it before) that you don’t want to be in a relationship anytime soon. If they want to continue hanging out and hooking up, that’s great. If not, at least you’re giving them the opportunity to choose and not just disappearing.
If you’re dating, you will get to a point in a relationship where things seem to be going a little too fast. It’s a hell of a lot easier to be open and literally say, “I think we’re going a little too fast with our relationship”, than completely cutting someone off. Plus, this could potentially be a really great relationship for you in the long run.
Yikes. This is probably one of the top reasons people ghost, and it sucks. It’s not fair to the person you’re having sex with AT ALL. Just because it sucked, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a text. Let them know you had fun, but don’t lead them on to believe it’ll happen again. If they text you later in the week asking to hangout, let them know that you don’t think that you should and call it a day. It might feel shitty to do, but it’s better than completely leaving them in the dark.
Just tell them. Let them know that you don’t think that things are going to work out between you and move on.
Well, I’m here to tell you that you are a breed of people who genuinely suck. If you find enjoyment out of ghosting the girls/guys you hook up with, you probably shouldn’t be allowed out of your dorm/apartment/mother’s house.
