Most college students at some point can relate to the “broke college student” label. Finding things to do that are cost efficient and even free can be fun when you get a group of friends together and make the best of everything. Here’s what to do around central Michigan University when you’re broke AF!

1. Go to a sporting event!

Sports are free for students to attend as long as they have their student IDs on them, and it’s an excellent way to show spirit and support for your university.

2. Check the email from Student Activities and Involvement every Monday.

Every Monday the office releases events that are happening on campus, most of which are free. These events range from RSO’s (registered student organizations) having events, to guest speakers/appearances and even movie showings on campus.

3. Host a movie night in your room.

On campus or not, it doesn’t matter. Everyone loves a good movie night with snacks and friends. Pick a movie (or 5), pitch in on the snacks, and relax for a night in.

4. Get involved with the volunteer office.

A lot of students on campus are familiar with the volunteer office located in the University Center. Volunteer work is a great way to get out of your room involve yourself, meet people that may have other connections and interests, and give back to other people. Who doesn’t love to feel good!

5. Go see a production in Bush Theatre.

There are plenty of plays, musicals, and concerts in Bush Theatre that are reasonably priced. Central has a copious amount of talented students on campus. Tickets range from $7-$10 to attend.
