What Dating App You Should Use Based On Your Personality

It’s rough out there, and with so many dating app options it can be difficult to pick the right one to use regularly. Like, yeah, download them all, but if you don’t have a go-to then you’ll end up overwhelmed and exhausted. Here are some suggestions of what dating app you should use based on your personality.

1. Tinder

Who should use it: Someone who is open-minded and okay with wasting time swiping through a lot of bullshit.

We’ve got to start somewhere, so let’s get Tinder out of the way. Personally, I am not a fan of this dating app, regardless of it being the first one I had ever heard of four score and seven years ago. I think to an extent it has become a joke/vehicle for being ghosted, speaking to crazies, and getting laid. I have milk that has a longer shelf life than a tinder relationship will probably last. Okay, okay, jokes aside, if that is your thing then to each his own. No judgments here. There are tinder success stories out there (some of my friends met their boyfriends on tinder so you just have to be patient.)

2. Bumble

Who should use it: Someone who is assertive and on top of things.

We all know that Bumble gives the ladies power over the men, something I am very much a fan of. However, if you aren’t checking this app on a regular basis it may not be for you. It is very easy to forget to message a match within 24 hours and have it disappear, and if you’re lazy like me then it becomes more of a job than anything else. A plus is that it allows you to be pickier than tinder and choose who you start a conversation with. The guys are also way hotter than Tinder, so do with that what you will. In addition, it has a Bumble BFF feature if you’re trying to ”date” to make a friend I guess? I don’t really know what that’s all about.

3. Hater

Who should use it: Someone who is sick of pretending that they looooove their job and cats and slow walkers and Lady Gaga and pretentious people and people wearing shark tooth necklaces and guys with chinstraps…

This is one that I wish I had known about when I was single. What better way to bond than over a mutual hatred for something? No better way. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory so I’ll stop here, but if you are a very sincerely positive person this isn’t a good option for you. There are so many options it can be hard to decide what dating app you should use.

4. Hinge

Who should use it: Someone who is cautious/serious about looking for something.

Ah, Hinge another very common choice. Hinge markets themselves as a place where relationships start, so it allegedly has a different mentality than Tinder. If you’re afraid to meet up with some random stranger who may not be who they say, then Hinge is the way to go. You connect through Facebook and have to have mutual friends for them to show up. AKA you don’t have to say that you met on a dating app, you can say you met through mutual friends…kewl! This is NOT the app for mindless swiping as you only get a certain amount per day so use them wisely!

5. Taffy

Who should use it: People who aren’t shallow (lol).

Okay so I’m not sure if people actually use this one but I kind of think they should, so I am here to inform you about it. I think it is interesting because the swipes are not based on looks, so you’re challenging the societal dating app norms here. Good for you, ya rebel. I like this one because I think a lot of healthy and LASTING relationships are built on deeper, personality-based connections and not just sexual attraction that burns out fast. But that’s just me so take it for what you will.

There are obviously tons of apps to choose from (Coffee Meets Bagel, Badoo, Happn, Clover etc) but we all have google so knock yourself out. Or, maybe try to meet someone the good old fashion way. Either works, but if you’re looking for online dating, you should try to figure out what dating app you should use that will give you the best results.
