5 Ways To Stay In Shape You Should Be Aware Of

Motivated to return back to college with a transformed figure? Trying to impress someone? Want to just be in good shape? Whatever your motivation may be, keeping a slim figure and staying in shape is easier than you’d imagine. Here are 5 easy ways to stay in shape this summer.

1. Avoid Fast Food:

Fast food is practically a staple in our society today. Though appealing for its taste, accessibility, and low cost, it restricts weight loss and is not beneficial in many ways. It doesn’t hurt to have fast food a couple times a week, but bear in mind that any fast food you eat, you will have to work harder to burn it off. Cutting down on greasy, fat-filled foods can make an immediate impact not only on your body, but also on your energy levels, behavior, and general happiness. The next time you are tempted for a quick bite at McDonald’s, quickly ask yourself if you really need it.

2. Running:

Yes, not many people like running. It can be boring and repetitive but is the quickest way to lose weight and get rid of your lingering gut. Running at first will never be fun, but by incrementally increasing your distance each time, you’ll quickly find that it will become easier, hopefully to the point of eventual enjoyment. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t want to run, however even running 1-2 times a week can make a large impact on weight loss and strengthening your endurance and fitness levels. Even a leisurely jog will do a lot more than most other physical exercises.

3. Playing Sports With Friends:

Most people hate any form of cardio, so why not do it in a fun way. Playing sports with friends is an easy way to get exercise without even realizing it. By the time you notice you’re even tired you’ll have burned off just as many calories as a run with an exponential amount of pleasure. Whether it’s pickup basketball, a game of soccer, or even a match of tennis, playing sports is the most effective way to burn off calories with the most enjoyment.

4. Reduce your Calorie Intake:

Going on a diet is a hassle, but there are easy ways to eat healthier without even changing much with what you eat. Pick a day to start a month-long period where you aren’t allowed to eat specific foods. For instance, tell yourself that during July you will no longer eat greasy bacon, potato chips, drink soda, or eat any fat-filled foods. Eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can and stick to meats with high levels of protein and low levels of fat such as chicken, steak, and pork. Another easy way to cut back is to eat less takeout and more homemade food. Although a complete change in diet is often agitating and frustrating, by incrementally eating healthier you will build yourself a routine to ultimately eating healthy with every meal.

5. Move around:

Summer can be a lazy period of time, especially if you’re home from school and don’t have much to do. Don’t fall into a habit of sitting around for long periods of time. Go for walks, move around the house, do some chores. Every little type of movement can help burn calories and can also help set routines, which will ultimately help in losing weight. Plus, your parents will love if you offer to mow the lawn or vacuum their room.
