Prevent yourself from waking up on the wrong side of the bed by following this morning routine that will help you start your morning off right. These ten tips will help you feel more energized and productive at the start of each day.
Even though everyone feels like they need that extra couple of minutes in the morning studies have actually shown that it’s not as helpful as you might think. Going back to sleep can leave you more tired than you were before you woke up so ignore the snooze button and start your day right away.
A lot of morning routines recommend full meditation when you wake up, but that’s not for everyone. If meditation isn’t your cup of tea just sit up in your bed sitting cross-legged and give yourself a minute or two to breathe and ready yourself for the day. This helps you gradually wake up in the morning and get your mind ready for the day ahead.
Drinking a cold glass of water is an excellent way to help jumpstart your day and wake you up. After sleeping all night you can be a bit dehydrated so it’s important to drink right after you get out of bed.
This could be any number of bathroom activities from brushing your teeth, moisturizing your skin, or fixing your hair. Take some time to ready yourself for your day and carry out all your toiletry needs.
Multitasking is a great way to start off your day and to feel productive. Doing some yoga poses or even a more intense in-room workout (check out our article here) can help get your blood flowing in the morning. Listening to the radio, and audiobook or a podcast at the same time gets your body and brain working as one, setting you up for a productive day.
This one is pretty straight forward, but even if you aren’t a fan of showering in the morning there are benefits. The water helps get your blood flowing and will help wake you up even more. If you don’t want to start your morning with a full shower use the opportunity to simply wash your body or rinse off. This gives you the benefit of a shower without any wet hair.
This is another opportunity to multitask as you perform one of the more mundane tasks of the day. Listen to a podcast or audiobook, or put on an episode of your favorite show to keep your mind interested. If you are worried you don’t have time for that figure out your outfit for the day the night before, then all you need to worry about is slipping it on.
Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day and you need that fuel to start your morning and continue to be productive all day long. Even if you aren’t eating a perfectly balanced meal be sure to pick up something before heading off into the world.
Your eyes are still sensitive right after you’ve woken up and staring at your phone is no way to help them adjust. Give yourself time to fully wake up and start your day before scrolling through social media. It’s way better for your eyes and to ensure you have a good start to your day.
You don’t need to follow this exact routine to have success, but having a routine is key. Whether it’s the above steps or any other combination that helps you start your morning right than that’s what you should be doing. Finding a routine is super helpful in making each morning as productive and enjoyable as possible so figure what works for you and keep to it.
