Fashion PSA: BOHO STYLE IS NOT JUST FOR THE WARM WEATHER. I love this aesthetic and try to emulate it whenever possible. When I was younger, I was frustrated because I did not know how to keep this style going throughout the wild winter months in the Midwest. Being older and (a tad) wiser, I have found there are multiple ways to keep this style going in the winter months! If y’all love the boho look as much as I do, you will be pumped as well! Let’s get it!
It may be hard to create the boho look without the warm weather, but this where a big jacket can be your best (fashion ) friend. The jacket is not just a great way to keep warm. Adding a bigger jacket to your outfit can give you a laidback vibe which will help for the boho vibe that you are going for. Whether it be a trench coat, fuzzy, or a leather jacket, you can stay warm and keep the free and flowly aesthetic that the boho fashion trend will give you.

Big everything is the name of the boho style game. Oversized scarves are no exception. Throwing these babies will give you the chill aesthetic you are searching for! It adds to the flowly aesthetic of the boho style. And of course, oversized scarves come in SO many different patterns, you will be sure to find a scarf that matches your style! Not to mention, you will NEVER ever be cold. Win-win!
Yes! It is possible to wear dresses in the winter. That is where is the maxi dress comes in. Many stores and websites carry dresses to ensure you will be stylish and fabulous during the frigid winter months. They come in many different styles such as floral, paisley, stripes or solid colors and textures, light or heavier depending warm you want to be, so you can find the ones you will feel most comfortable in! Bless for this dress!
I was never a fan of vests when I was younger, but that changed when I realized it can be used for the boho style I wanted. It is important for us to experiment with different styles/ pieces even if it is a little (or a lot) outside of your comfort zone! Fashion is all about experimentation, trying to do so can be very fun! Vests that are furry, leather or long will bring you warmth and the style you are looking for!
If you want a two-piece outfit, throw on a basic tee, a maxi skirt, and boots, you there you have it! An easy boho look! Just like dresses, this piece comes in many different colors, styles, and textures to suit your lifestyle and your vibe!

When the boho style really took off, in the 60s’ and 70s’, BIG earrings were BIG for the look. People looked towards handmade jewelry to deck themselves out in. This may have been in support of freelance artists across the country. It supported the counterculture’s belief that we are all connected and because of that, it is important to support one another in our endeavors. Today, big earrings are still fabulous and adds to the boho style.

The poncho is a piece that has been used by Hispanic and Native people of South America for centuries. and aesthetics from Native American culture in South American and in Hispanic countries. These are very intelligent groups of people for creating a garmet that kept people warm and protected them from the elements. They were coveted too by the 18th century, sometimes going for several horses when being traded! Dang! Well, I can understand why they are so comfy and flowy! It became popular in America during the counterculture movement, as people adopted styles from different cultures to represent the changing attitudes in society. So if jackets and scares are not your things, you can definitely throw a poncho on for your boho style. A piece of culture and history will be with you.

I am not throwing any shade at stocking caps and yarn sewn hats but if those are not your jam, you can go for a brimmed hat! This is another piece that can be seen in both summer and winter boho looks. Brimmed hats can dress up any outfit and give you that effortless carefree look that the boho style emulates.

Gotta love them boots during this chilly time of year! Boots and boho go foot in foot (ya see what I did there). It does not matter if you do a high boot or a bootie, either type can fit the boho style. I personally like booties because I am a short little lady, so that is my preference. If you are short, doing a long boot can still be super cute, do yo thang! It is awesome because we are able to create so many boho looks with boots we already have in our closet. Crack open that closet and see where your boots can take your fashion game!

Back at it again with jewelry. As stated before, jewelry is a staple in the boho style as well. The more and the bigger the better. Showcase those statement necklaces and chunky bracelets. If they are homemade, even better! In addition to rocking the boho style during the winter, you are able to support awesome talented artists who work super hard to make beautiful pieces! I suggest checking out Esty for those type of pieces, you will not be disappointed at the gorgeous jewelry these artists are creating!
