10 Ways To Rock A Mask Until Quarantine Ends

Masks have become a necessity in everyday life. In just a couple months, our lives were turned upside down by the coronavirus pandemic, and now it’s policy to wear a mask when not just in essential businesses, but all indoor gatherings. So now the time has come to not only wear a mask when you go out but rock it!

1. Coordinate With Your Outfit

If you have to wear a mask, why not coordinate it with your outfit? If you’re wearing mostly blues, put on a blue mask, so on and so forth. You can use a mask just like any other accessory. Maybe your mask doesn’t match your outfit, but it is the same pattern as your shoes or your purse. Treat the mask like any other accessory and use it to your advantage, all while still being safe! I saw a girl who was wearing all black, except for a red purse and a red mask, and it looked amazing. Or even if you just wanted to wear all monochrome one color.

2. Tie-Dye

Tie-Dye masks are perfect for summer. While plain masks are more versatile and can fit with any outfit, a tie-dye mask can give you the accent you’re looking for in your outfit. Plus, the bright colors and fun design make it the perfect mask to wear all summer long. You could even make your own! You can get a cheaper plain white face mask, or a large pack of them, and die them yourself. Then you have cute new face masks and a fun project to do in the meantime. This would also make a good and thoughtful gift for friends and family.

3. Animal Print

Animal print is in right now, so why not rock it with your mask too? Snakeskin and leopard print are insanely popular right now and it’s easy to find a mask in those prints as well. However, animal print is a bold pattern so I would recommend wearing an animal print mask with a more low-key, or monochrome outfit, as you don’t want to clash.

4. Face Mask Scarfs

Now that we are heading into summer, you might want to switch to a face mask scarf. Masks can make you feel very hot and overheated, while a scarf might give you some more breathing room, while still following the safety rules and guidelines. There are many different types of face coverings you can get that will feel lighter than a mask, just make sure that you’re still protected. You can use a scarf and wrap it around your nose and mouth, or a scarf mask that still has elastic earloops for you to use, or even a light gaiter scarf. All of these are good options that can also easily be fashionable.

5. Floral Bow Mask

Along the same lines as the scarf, the tied mask offers a more lightweight and breathable alternative to the traditional face mask. This mask is a huge fashion statement. The bow in the back makes the size of the mask much larger and much more of a statement than others. Plus you can get them in a multitude of patterns so you have a wide variety to choose from.

6. Sequins

While sequins aren’t usually the most tasteful thing to wear, having them on an accessory is always fun! Having sequins on a mask if perfect for a night out or going out with your girls. They give your outfit a fun touch and you can still coordinate it with your outfit as most of the sequined masks are only one color.

7. Fringed Mask

Fringed masks are a huge statement and you either love them or you hate them. Not everybody will like them but they are fun! Plus, you can wear them again to the next music festival you go to! Fringed masks definitely give your outfit a flair, just make sure you feel comfortable wearing it, you’ll definitely be the talk of the town (in a good way).

8. Rainbow Masks

Even though Pride month is coming to an end, rainbow masks are super fun to wear. You can wear them to brighten up your outfit, or when you’re just feeling particularly happy. If you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, then you can wear it as a badge throughout the rest of pride month (and after of course). Not to mention, they just make you happy to look at.

9. Match With Your Friends

If you’re going out with your friends, you can all wear the same color or patterned mask! This is a fun way to rock a face mask until the quarantine is over because you’re doing it with your friends. Everyone has to wear a mask anyway, so why not match? Coordinate colors of masks get your masks personalized or give them out as gifts! Do you have a friend who celebrated a birthday in quarantine? A bachelorette night planned? Add themed or matching masks to the night by gifting them and you’ll make everyone’s night.

1o. Own It!

You will be wearing masks for a while, even when things go back to “normal”, it’s likely businesses and events will still have people wearing masks, so find one that you like! Try to find ones that you are comfortable in, and ones that you can wear daily. Then after you find your favorite daily masks you can branch out and get some more fun masks, masks for nights out at restaurants and bars, masks that you wear to work are different from the ones you wear when you’re hanging out with friends, etc. So, find masks that you like! And no matter which ones you choose, own it! You can rock masks just like wearing any other accessories.

I, personally, like to wear face masks particularly on days when I don’t do my full makeup routine, so I would recommend having at least a couple of plain colors on hand, at least one plain black mask, and then some fun ones for when you want to do something more fun.

As always, leave any questions or comments below!
