15 Ways To Put Oreos Into A Dessert That Will Blow Your Mind

Oreos are an amazing dessert by themselves, from the chocolate wafer to the cream between them. As amazing as they are by themselves, they are even better in other desserts. Here are 15 desserts that Oreos improve by their addition.

1.  Into cupcake batter

Oreos show up in a few ways in a cupcake. For this part, we are going to focus on the bulk of the cupcake itself: the batter. For the beginning, separate the wafers, keeping some of the cream on each wafer. Place one of them on the bottom of the baking liner that you use for the cupcake.

Next, crush up the remaining Oreos. These will go into the batter itself. Make the majority of the batter first before putting in the Oreos. This step is needed because the rest needs to be mixed or whipped for a set amount of time. The crushed Oreos just need to be gently folded in at the very end.

Finally, plop the batter into the cupcake liner at 3/4ths full and pop them into the oven. Usually, you should start with 15 minutes at 350-degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the power of your oven.

Keep checking them at 2-5 minute intervals until fully baked.

2. Churro

For this dessert, the Oreos are the main attraction. The first step is the dough itself —  the main part of a churro. You will need ingredients like cocoa powder, flour, eggs, butter, water, and a lot of Oreos (only the cookie part).

For the Oreos to become one with the dough, they need to be crushed and ground into small bits.

The filling needs ingredients like softened unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and the cream filling from the Oreos. So worry not: no part of the Oreos will be wasted.

After the churro is fried and cooled a little, squeeze the cream filling into the center.

3. Ice cream sandwich

This addition of Oreos is one of the more simple ones. You need to separate the wafters of the Oreo and remove the cream from them. Grab a scoop of your favorite ice cream, and smoosh the ice cream between the two wafers.

It usually works best with smaller amounts of ice cream since the Oreos are smaller in size. The sandwich provides the best of both worlds (the Oreos and the ice cream worlds) and you get extra sweetness from the ice cream.

4. Covered in chocolate

These Oreos can be done in a few different ways depending on how much you like chocolate. The first is completely covered in chocolate. You just have to drop it into the melted chocolate, twist it around a few times with a fork, then lift and let it dry.

You can also opt to only half covering the Oreo. To do this, you hold the Oreo on one end by pinching it between your fingers and dunk the other half into the molten chocolate. Then let it dry just like the fully covered one.

5. Topping on a cupcake

Oreos can be put into the topping on a cupcake in a few different ways.

The first way can be just sticking whole Oreos into the frosting on top. You can choose to cut the Oreos in half to make them stick better, or just put whole Oreos on and hope for the best.

The second way is crushing them a little and folding them into the icing itself. This usually works best with a whiter icing since you can see them better. But Oreos work in any other frosting too.

The third is pulverizing them into a sand-like texture and mixing them into the frosting. This method gives the frosting a little crunch and more of a cocoa look than the other two ways.

6. Bark

In this dessert, you must wait for the Oreos. Bark requires time to chill and set before you can break it apart and eat.

For bark, you will want to stick to bigger chunks of Oreos and remove the cream from the wafers. You can put it on the side and save for a different dessert, or just eat it as is.

The Oreos don’t have to be alone in this dessert. You can bring in other treats and ingredients like nuts, candies, and candied cherries.

7. Truffle

Truffles are cute: little chocolate creations that take almost no baking, or none at all. Which is why they combine very well with Oreos.

There are many recipes for Oreo truffles out there, and most have you crush the Oreos so that they can blend into the rest of the ingredients.

When you are finished with combining the ingredients: form them into balls, place them on parchment paper, and stick them into the freezer to chill.

The key to a non-cracked truffle is to not let them freeze for too long. It takes a lot of trial and error before you get the perfect truffle unless you get lucky and guess the timing correctly.

Once you pull them back out of the freezer, roll them in melted chocolate and let them sit until the chocolate is set. It’s at this stage that you will find out if you waited too long or not long enough.

8. Bar

Oreos made into bars? Chocolate on top of chocolate? That sounds like a chocoholic’s dream.

Bars always have a base, so make an Oreo crust to start with. Then pour melted chocolate on top of that, and sprinkle chocolate chips and more Oreos on top of that layer.

Once you have your desired amount of chocolate on, put it into the fridge to let it set.

The result? Chocolate perfection and no baking required.

9. Pops

Oreos on sticks? Covered in chocolate? Yes, please. This combination makes an already sweet treat even sweeter.

The common recommendations for Oreos of this combination are double stuffed since the cream is thicker and can hold the stick easier than the normal ones.

Much like the other combinations, you need to separate the wafer parts of the Oreos for now. Make sure that one wafer has the cream and the other doesn’t. Make an indentation in the cream with the stick, then remove the stick.

The stick needs something to keep it in place, so cover it in chocolate and place it into indentation you made already. Put the wafer without the cream back onto the one with it and the stick. Before doing anything, let the chocolate harden.

Then, grabbing the stick, lower the cookie into a bowl of chocolate and twist around until it is completely covered. Let it rest again until it hardens. Decorate the hardened chocolate as you like.

10. Dip

Oreos can be added to more than one area of a dessert. Frosting is one example, another is a dip. Dips for desserts are typically paired with fruits like strawberries or wafers.

For this type of dessert, you will want to crush, not grind, the Oreos as small as you can. Prepare the foundation of the dip, then fold in the crushed Oreos until they are well-combined.

Dips for desserts are chilled, so you will need to put it into the fridge for about an hour before you dig into this delicious combination.

11. Ice cream tart

Oreos can sound fancy and be sweet, too. Tarts are usually thought of as having fruits in them and are more on the fancy side. With this combination, you can get the best of both worlds: fancy and ice cream.

The Oreos are crushed and formed into the crust of the tart. Once the crust is pushed into the tin, put it into the freezer to let it set.

Next, take the crust and your ice cream out. Plop the ice cream onto the tart. What comes next is up to you.

You can drizzle it with hot fudge, chocolate, sprinkles, nuts, etc. Just be careful not to put too much on. Tarts are sometimes eaten by holding the crust with your hands or with a fork. Although in this case, you might want to opt for a spoon.

12. Deep-fried

Deep-fried Oreos are extremely common in some state fairs, so it might come as no surprise to some to find them on this list.

The Oreos are covered in a dough mixture and deep-fried for an amount of time which can vary from recipe to recipe and depending on how crispy you want the outside to be.

The dough is crispy on the outside, but sweet, hot, and soft on the inside. These Oreos are usually best when you eat them within an hour of frying them, but they are still good if you choose to store them into the fridge for a day or two.

Don’t forget to sprinkle some powdered sugar on them for the ultimate deep-fried Oreo!

13. Ice cream cake

Oreos pair very well with ice cream, thus it only makes sense that they would make a great combination as a cake.

Oreos have a few different options when it comes to where they go into an ice cream cake. They can be toppers, they can be mixed into the ice cream, they can be the base of the entire cake, or they can be the layers in-between the ice cream.

As toppers, Oreos can decorate the cake. They can be arranged in a circle with the Oreos cut in half, or they can be randomly pushed into the cake. However you choose, or wherever you choose, to place the Oreos it is surely going to be delicious.

14. Sprinkled into cookie batter

The Oreos in this combination are very similar to combining them with the cake batter. You can crush the wafer part of the Oreos into smaller pieces, and then fold them into the cookie dough.

Typically you will want to have more dough than Oreo so you can still get the cookie at the end. Some recipes even recommend you use the cream part of the Oreos as part of a filling in the cookie. This addition makes the entire cookie more gooey and delicious.

15. No-bake

A lot of recipes with Oreos in them will have them folded into the batter or as toppings. In some no-bake recipes, however, you can make the very foundation out of Oreos!

The process of making an Oreo crust is simple. You only need a lot of Oreos, about one full package at least, and butter.

Begin with putting the Oreos into a food processor. With this combination, you can grind the entire cookie and not just the wafer parts.

Once they are done being grounded, mix the Oreos with the butter and spread them into a tin lined with parchment paper. This process works for no-bake cheesecakes and pies.
