10 Ways To Practice Self-Care When You’re Stressed Out Of Your Mind
When you’re stressed out of your mind, you most definitely deserve a little self-care. One of the best things that we can do for our minds and bodies is to take a break and remember that we are worth love. Continue reading to discover 10 ways to practice self-care when you’re stressed out of your mind.
1. Eat Healthily And Mindfully
More often than not, we eat our meals while multitasking. Allow yourself to indulge in a meal without any distractions, and allow yourself to enjoy the experience of a nourishing meal. Doing this consistently is one of the best things you could do in terms of self-care.
2. Keep Track Of Your Accomplishments
Whilst you may seen your to-do list as the most important thing happening right now, it is important to also recognise the things we’ve done and successfully acheived. At the end of each day, take your time and make a list of all of the productive things you’ve done that day. No matter how small the accomplishment is, note it down and praise yourself. You deserve it!
3. Express Gratitude
Expressing gratitude is just as important as keeping track of what you’ve done. Keep a notebook by your bed, and note down the things that you feel lucky to have. These could be anything from clean bed sheets to a good friend.
4. Gift Your Inner Child
When you were little, what was your favourite thing to do? Painting, singing at the top of your lungs, running in the park, drawing? Treat your inner child to a present from the past and allow yourself to unwind and do an activity for no reason other than self-care.
5. Create A Cozy Space
When you’re stressed out of your mind, to distract yourself and to indulge in a little self-care, tidy and organise your living space if you’re not happy with it. Add some candles or have a pillow fight.
6. Read A Book
Find a book that you love is a great way to unwind, feel happy and one of the best self-care actvities. Reading encourages a sense of peace and forces you to concentrate on a story.
7. Move Your Body
Getting active and simply moving is a great method of self-care when you’re feeling super stressed. An explanation about endorphins isn’t required – we all know by now how it works. Getting active doesn’t neccessarily mean that you have to visit the gym. Find a form of physical activity that works for both your mind and for your body.
8. Unplug And Unfollow
Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat are all great but if it doesn’t make you feel better about yourself, reduce the amount of time you spend scrolling down the social media feeds to instantly feel more relaxed and less stressed. Try not to compare yourself to everyone’s online version of themselves. Take the time to break away from social media, and allow yourself to focus on the beauty of the moment.
9. Create Something
Whether it’s a delicious batch of brownies or a painting, getting artistic allows us to feel mindful, productive and relaxed.
10. Build A Self-Care Kit
Fill a basket, a box or a drawer, with some of your favourite things that make you feel special. These could be anything from nail polish, to sweets, to your favourite body butter, sheet masks and family photos. Keep your self-care kit in your favourite room for when you need a dose of self-care and peace.
