10 Ways To Incorporate Rose Into Your Daily Routine
The lovely rose has long been a staple of popular culture, symbolizing love, passion, and beauty. Recently, the beauty industry has been harnessing the wonder of roses beyond their physical appearance. Rose products have proven to be astringent, anti-inflammatory, and are full of vitamins and minerals. Not to mention, this powerful flower helps nearly every skin condition, from acne to rosacea to premature aging. But enough talk already, let’s just get to the good stuff. Here are our top 10 ways to incorporate rose into your daily routine.
1. Rose Deodorant
Getting ready for the day is kind of like building a house. You have to start with the foundation, and then you can add things on top of that foundation to make that house beautiful and functional. In this case, smelling nice is your foundation. After your morning shower, brush your teeth and put on a generous amount of rose deodorant. We love Schmidt’s Rose and Vanilla deodorant because it’s natural, effective, and aluminum-free. A few swipes under your arms and you’ll be feeling (and smelling) like a Victorian princess.
2. Rose Toner
If your skin falls on the oiler side (good news: fewer wrinkles as you age), you likely already know just how great a toner can be in your skincare routine. Adding rose and witch hazel can bring the breakout-fighting powers to an ultimate maximum, all while keeping the excess shine to a minimum. Plus, the powerful antioxidants can help to eradicate harmful substances in your skin and increase production of healthy skin cells, fading any acne scars in the process. We’re big fans of Thayer’s Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera and Rose Petal. Sometimes the simplest ingredients make the biggest difference!
3. Rose Facial Spray
We can almost guarantee that this isn’t the first time you’ve seen some article out there raving about the wonders of rose facial spray, especially the one by Mario Badescu. But here us out: we personally use this product every day, and can confidently tell you that it’s an excellent makeup setter, a powerful pick-me-up, and a great on-the-go hydrator. What’s really bought our loyalty, however, is the fresh-picked rose scent, as well as the way it lingers for a bit after you spritz it on. This pretty pink bottle will be in our bathroom cabinets for years to come!
4. Rose Perfume
If you’re a total rose lover like we are, you might want to check out a perfume that perfectly encapsulates the aroma of the lovely flower. The ideal rose perfume is light, layer able, and can can be worn for any occasion. That’s why we love Pacifica Persian Rose perfume. It’s elegant, fresh, and floral, and with notes of violet and myrrh, is an excellent blend for any floral aficionado. One Amazon reviewer even said, “This perfume smells just like roses and the fragrance literally lasts all day. Perfect for spring and summer.”
5. Rose Body Wash
While it’s true that most of us would jump at the occasion of a warm bath filled with Epsom salts and rose petals, it’s also true that most of us are on limited schedules. Luckily, you can still get your dose of rose for the day by incorporating a moisturizing body wash into your morning or evening shower. Love, Beauty, and Planet is a new brand that produces safe, eco-friendly beauty products (and soon will expand into cleaning supplies). The absence of parabens and sulfates means that you’ll won’t get that dry feeling of most other body washes, and the smell in their Murumuru Butter & rose body wash is to die for. You’ll give Aphrodite a run for her money!
6. Rose Cuticle Oil
Ever stumble across those pretty nail polish bottles (the ones with the flowers in them) at Target but never have an excuse to actually buy one? Well, we may just have one for you! This Blossom Cuticle Oil not only looks stunning but is fantastic for your nails- it delivers intense hydration and softness to your cuticles so it’ll help your nail beds grown longer and stronger. The soothing smell of real roses is perfect to add to your nighttime ritual- so we recommend keeping a bottle (or two) on your night stand.
7. Rose Shampoo
With all of its amazing properties already it’s no wonder that rose (especially rose water) is fantastic for nourishing your roots. If you’re the kind of person who likes to wash their hair every day, try out a sulfate-free, paraben-free shampoo like the Aveeno Rose Water and Chamomile Blend Shampoo. The rose water will give your tresses a little extra shine and bounce while the chamomile and oat are perfect for those with sensitive skin. This blend is even safe for color-treated hair, so you can protect those rose-gold highlights with some rose-derived ingredients.
8. Rosebud Salve
With the colder weather rolling in, many of us suffer from things like brittle nails and chapped lips. Luckily, with a rosebud moisturizing salve (like Smith‘s) you can both treat your skin woes and smell pleasantly (albeit mildly) of roses! We love everything about this product from the vintage packaging to the pretty reddish-pink color to its many uses (you can even use it to highlight cheekbones and tame eyebrows). Keep it in your pocket for touch-ups throughout the day.
9. Rose Shower Gel
While we already talked about rose body wash, we felt that leaving Lush’s Rose Jam Shower Gel would be criminal. Handmade with 100% natural ingredients, this shower gel is a true treat for your skin. Argan oil intensely hydrates while vanilla, lemon, and goji berry extract all make for a truly regal rosy scent. If you’re feeling fancy, give their Rose Jam Bubbleroon a try for an out-of-this-world soak.
10. Rose Hair Treatment
Is that city life leaving your hair in need of a little TLC? Bulgarian Rose Otto’s hair treatment to the rescue! To reverse the effects of pollution, stress, and heat styling, simply work through your scalp and hair, leave on for twenty minutes, rinse and dry. This product is both USDA certified organic and Aromatherapeutic, so it’s truly worth its weight in gold (and it only costs about 10 bucks).
