There are moments in life when you feel like pure crap. You look at yourself and think it’s about time for a freakin change and what, not a better time to do it than in 2020! Here are 8 ways to glow up rather than glowing down before the end of the year.
It’s crazy how life just happens. We blame that everything is happening to us when reality it’s happening for us. What we have learned this year is that you can’t always control the outcomes. What we can control is what we do and how we react towards every situation.
The first way we are going to Glow Up so that things start to be in our control is by creating a Dream Board. Sure, I know what your thinking… she can’t be serious! Well, I am and there’s a good reason for that. Dream Boards help you visually see what you have in your heart. Many of us had to change what we wanted due to the pandemic. That doesn’t mean you should stop believing in your dreams.
Create a dream board to bring back passion and excitement into your life. Create several if you would like. Maybe one for career goals, family goals, and perhaps one just for your Glow Up goals. Take out some old magazines and cut out pictures that represent your dreams, or go onto Pinterest and create a board! The options are endless, but just have fun while you do so.
I know, your sick of this simple sentence of “drink the water”, but I bet you don’t realize that water brings so much beauty to your skin and your soul. It takes out all the toxins that sit inside of you and instead it supplies the nutrients your body needs. It leaves you looking absolutely stunning creating the ultimate Glow Up. People will be asking what did you do to get this oh so natural glow.
Even your energy levels will go up. You won’t be feeling tired randomly since your intake is in check. If you aren’t sure how much water you should be drinking each day, try using an intake calculator. This makes things a lot easier when trying to calculate!
We all understand that veggies and fruits will help us, but how will it help us Glow Up? They help us Glow Up because they are filled with antioxidants which in return helps protect our skin from pollution, smoking, sunlight, even age spots, and wrinkles. Without these powerful foods, our bodies won’t be able to fight off the aging effects. Before you know it, you could be looking older than you want if you don’t start eating fruits and veggies more.
By eating healthier daily you will start feeling better as well. Even though eating a bag of Doritos, ice cream, and pizza sound way more appetizing the effects of eating this way won’t just hurt you physically, it will hurt you mentally too. Foods are so powerful and can even affect your moods daily. Try eating healthier options more often so that your Glow Up is nothing but amazing on the inside and out.
Even though it’s so much easier to put on a whole lot of highlighter before walking outside your front door, it never lasts as long as Glow Up sweat sesh! It doesn’t matter if you choose to do yoga, kickboxing, running, or all of the above! The Glow Up will be real once you get your heart and body moving. When you move, you are creating circulation and blood flow. The more you move the better you feel, and the less stressed you are which creates a Glow Up Glow like no other.
As Elle Woods from Legally Blonde once said, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.”
As said before, 2020 has been hard on all of us. Physically, mentally, and emotionally. A great way to release some of the stress is by having a mini spa day for yourself. Take a bath or shower, shave all the hair OFF your body (yes, we know your legs and armpits need a shave), wash your hair (hair masks are good), face, body, and exfoliate.
Next, dry off and then lather your beautiful skin with lotion. Maybe even massage yourself a bit. Once you are done with the body, DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE FACE. Do a face mask or two, then lather up the moisture. Your body will thank you. I recommend doing this once a week to rejuvenate the soul so that the next week you can start off with a bang.
Hair is something special to all of us. We can either love it or hate it, depending on how well we take care of it. If you can go get a trim, maybe some highlights, go do it. If not, that’s okay too! At home hair masks are amazing and it doesn’t even matter if you buy one from the store or make one from home. DIY hair masks are sometimes even better!
Makeup is what many of us live by. It’s our armor in a world full of chaos. Makeup shields us from the drama and judgment that fly’s our way on the daily. Even though makeup is fun and exciting to play with at times, a lot of women are dependent on it. Put down the makeup brushes for a while and Glow Up in your own skin.
Who you are is just as beautiful as the woman you are with the makeup. Using making is an art, and it is beautiful in its own way, but it’s important to realize that you are not defined by the things you wear to shield yourself. You can be your best version of you without the mask. Find yourself without the makeup for a period of time by challenging yourself in learning who you really are and Glow Up by being 100% authentically you.
Every day we are on our phones. Watching and listening to the voices around us but never truly hearing our own thoughts of what we want. Take the time to get off the phone by going outside, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, writing, anything! The real Glow Up comes from within, not on the outside. Glow Up by finding out who you are.
