You’ve been looking forward to getting a job position. You know what you’re going to wear, how you’re going to handle the position, etc. Then, you get back the news that you didn’t get the position. You’re trying to hold back the feels, but they keep creeping up. Here are 10 ways to get your confidence back after professional rejection.
It’s okay to cry it out! You’ll feel better letting those emotions stream down your face. It’s not only a reminder that you really wanted that job and you felt that you would be an excellent fit for it, but it’s also a reminder that you are a human who has feelings! Crying and acknowledging your feelings are good ways to get your confidence back.
It helps to tell someone how you’re feeling, because now, your feelings are no longer pent up inside of you. Telling someone how you’re feeling can actually make you feel much better. I’m pretty sure that’s a scientific fact, but don’t quote me.
Your face is probably really swollen and a little snotty, so you may wanna go wash that off. Consider using a body wash that has that tingling effect. Take a hot shower or bath and just relax your mind. This is one of the best ways to get your confidence back.
Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Get rid of those dead skin cells; they are full of feels. Paint your nails. Use that hair mask that makes your hair super soft. Give yourself a mani-pedi. Throw a face mask and some cucumbers on your face and give yourself that attention that you so richly deserve.
It’s crucial that you have that moment of silence where you are able to get in touch with who you are, aside from what positions you have received or been rejected from. Remember that you are still the amazing beautiful you before and after that E-mail. “Breathe in the good stuff, exhale the bull…stuff.” (You know the quote, but we are keeping it clean here, okay?) This is one of the healthiest ways to get your confidence back.
Pinterest is such a wonderful place filled with beautiful quotes and sayings! I have a whole entire board filled with quotes that get me out of ruts of all kinds. Just type in “inspiration” or “girl boss” and you’re ready to go conquer the new opportunities that are sure to come!
Today was rough! Nothing wrong with going to Cinnaholic (UGA) and eating a big ole’ cinnamon bun, or going to Insomnia (UGA) and eating some cookies. Besides, this is a “treat yo self” kinda day.
You thought it was over after the cookies! NAH. Go get some exercise in! Go to the gym and sweat it out! Do some yoga or pilates. Not only are you helping your body, but your mind is getting some love too. You’re releasing those good feeling chemicals in your brain. Put on your favorite song and get it movin’.
If you’ve been making unhealthy decisions lately, like staying up super late, not exercising, eating crazy all the time, procrastinating, or stressin’ about that job rejection, consider working towards making healthier decisions. You don’t have to do them all at the same time! Life is a progress in itself. However, consider making yourself better day by day. This will make your more confident because you are giving yourself the love that it so richly deserves.
I believe that everything happens for a reason. Why they didn’t want you for the job? We may never know. What I do know, is that if you are reading this article, you are still here. That’s something to be grateful for. Make a mental or physical note of the things that you are grateful for. Pretty soon, you’ll forget what you don’t have and focus more on living in the now. Before you know it, something exciting or better will happen, and you won’t even see it coming.
