Top 20 Ways To Finish The Year Off Strong

It’s the end of the year as we know it. Not just any year either, 2019 is about to end, and with it, a decade will end aswell. What have you done with the last ten years that you’re proud of? What about the last 10 months? Around this time it’s easy to get complacent, it’s back to school season, the holidays are around the corner, and we’re all just too tired to care. Well, snap out of it! There is still so much you can accomplish in the next couple of months that could change your life forever. Stay strong and power through these next couple of months. Life doesn’t start on January 1st, so stop waiting to make changes, do something good for yourself today and finsish the end of the year off strong.

Drink Your Water

The only thing humans are supposed to drink is water. Everything else is unneeded. Yes, it is fun to drink Pumpkin Spice Latte’s, and finish your night off with a beer, but it doesn’t do your body any favours. Yes, it is okay to indulge in those drinks now and then, but it shouldn’t be your main beverage. Drinking water keeps you energized, it clears up your skin, can help you lose weight, and it will also make you feel great in general. In order to be properly hydrated, you need to start drinking half your body weight in ounces of water every single day. That may seem like a lot of math, and trust me I’m the last person who wants to do the math, but all you have to do is divide your weight in half. Whatever number it is, that’s how many ounces of water you need to start drinking every day.

Helpful trick* Buy a water bottle with a reusable straw. You’ll drink way more water than you think if you use a straw. I don’t know the reasoning behind this, but it makes drinking all that water a whole lot easier. Buy a crazy straw if you’re feeling fun too. Adding fruit to your water can also add some zest! Being hydrated is the perfect way to finish off the end of the year.

Look Great Every day

It’s true what they say if you look good, you’ll feel good too. This is why you should treat every day like it’s the most important day of your life. Get up and curl your hair, don’t just let it air dry, wear that expensive eye shadow you’ve been saving, if not now, then when? By putting effort into your look first thing in the morning, you’re setting an attitude for the rest of the day. Once you put on fake eyelashes, you know you’re not going to be slacking off. They were way too hard to put on, and someone outside of your apartment should see them. Just remember, you’re worth the effort. This is for no one else except you, so dress up in clothes that make you feel powerful. The end of the year is a reason to celebrate, so wear that bright lipstick, girl!

Finishing (Or start) Your Side Projects

We all have a dream. Some of our dreams are more intricate than others. It may take you years to finish, or just a couple of days. Either way, stop waiting for tomorrow to start. If you want to write a novel, open an Etsy shop, or run a marathon, then you need to start today. This is the same for side projects you’ve already started on, finish them up, or make a dent in them before the end of the year.

Have Set Meal Plans

It is way too easy to start eating like crap just because it’s the holidays. Mashed potatoes, carbs, and chocolate are basically everywhere you look. It can be so hard to resist temptation. I’m not saying don’t pig out at Thanksgiving, that’s the point of the holiday, what I am saying is don’t pig out the rest of the time. Meal plan healthy snacks, breakfast, and lunch options. This way, you can stay healthy even if you indulge yourself a little at holiday parties. If you have enough energey, the end of the year won’t seem like a slog.

Clean Out Your Closet

Your closet works the same way your mind does. If it’s cluttered, your thoughts are too. Now, I don’t know if that’s scientifically correct, but I do know that it drives me crazy to have a messy closet.

Clean out your closet and get rid of:

  1. Clothes that don’t fit.
  2. You don’t wear anymore.
  3. Aren’t your style.
  4. Have holes in them or are tarnished in some other way.
  5. Were a gift, but you don’t actually wear them.

Yes, fit-spiration is a fun saying, but keeping that pair of jeans around that don’t fit isn’t doing you any favours. Clean out your closet and start the new year off fresh.

Cut Out Toxic People

Let me tell you something important. You don’t need to be friends with people who steal your joy, make you think negatively about yourself, or stress you out. Life is too damn short, so say goodbye to those negative people. You’re better than that girl.

Wake up and Dance

It might be unrealistic to ask you to exercise every single day before the new year. There aren’t enough hours in a day, and we all know that committing to working out, and then failing to do so, is the worst feeling in the world. Skip the guilt and move your body in a fun way. Dancing is a great way to get your heart rate up, burn a few calories, and energize your body without having to do the whole gym thing. Not to mention, it’s fun! Starting your day by dancing around your living room will automatically put you in a better mood. So wake up and shake what your momma gave you.

Cut Out 1 Vice

We all have one addiction, vice, or crutch that we lean on when things get tough. Maybe yours is drinking, watching another episode of The Office, or eating too much. Whatever it is the final few days of the year are the perfect time to cut that habit out. Make a promise to yourself that you’re not going to break. This way when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, you will feel accomplished and satisfied with yourself. Once you keep one promise to yourself, it’ll be easier to push yourself further.

The year is coming to an end, how will you be spending the final days of 2019? Go out with a bang, and try sticking to some of these goals. Don’t wait for New year resolutions, your time is now.
