10 Ways To Elevate Your Look In 2023

A new year is the perfect opportunity to elevate your look by doing something crazy and completely different. From hair dye to tattoos, there are many different ways you can change your style – and, it’s never too late to do it! Read on to discover 10 interesting ways, both big and small, that you can elevate your look this year.

1. Piercings

Piercings have the ability to change the entire vibe of your style. You could go for something more obvious, such as a nose or eyebrow piercing, or you could go for something a bit more subtle, such as different places on your ear. Experimenting with ear piercings is often a good place to start for those who find other areas a bit more daunting. For example, rather than just having your lobes pierced, consider getting your cartilage, daith, or conch pierced. You can then take it to the next level by getting your septum or bellybutton pierced, or just dive in headfirst! Remember, when it comes to piercings, you can always, always, always just take them out if you don’t like them!

2. Hair Transformation

Getting a hair transformation done is one of the more obvious ways to change your style up. Experiment with Snapchat filters to see if there’s a certain hair color you may want to try out, then get it done professionally (or, of course, you could always DIY it). You can find a variety of unique hair styles and patterns on Pinterest to get some inspiration. If hair dye isn’t your thing, try cutting your hair instead! You could always go for the classic bangs-transformation, or you could even chop it all off. Pinterest is your best friend when it comes to finding hair inspiration – find something you like, and don’t look back!

3. Experiment With Makeup

Makeup has the unique ability to completely transform your face. Rather than sticking to the same boring routine, try experimenting with makeup looks! You can find makeup tutorials for specific looks on TikTok and YouTube, or you could find inspiration pictures on Pinterest. This could include different eyeliner designs, colorful eyeshadow, or even just new products. Practice makes perfect, and you can always start over if you mess up. This is a really simple way to elevate your look.

4. Accessorize

If you don’t normally wear a lot of jewelry, accessorizing can take your look to the next level. Figure out your jewelry niche – are you into silver, or gold? Are you into rings, bracelets, or a little bit of everything? – then go all out when you accessorize. Layer up your necklaces with different designs and sizes to make your outfit unique. You can also find a variety of rings in different sizes to decorate your fingers. Go the extra mile by learning how to make your own jewelry! This would give you a distinctive touch that nobody else can copy.

5. Skincare Routine

Consider starting a solid skincare routine for every morning and night to improve your skin quality. If you aren’t sure where to start, check out my previous article on layering skincare products to get some ideas! You can find skincare products virtually anywhere, from Target to Amazon. Pinterest also includes plenty of skincare guides to help you figure out which serums you can mix, which products work best for your skin type, etc. Sit down, do some research, and start incorporating skincare into your routine!

6. Closet Clean Out

You know that one shirt that just kinda sits in your closet and collects dust? Well, it’s time to get rid of it. The perfect way to elevate your look is to discover your style and experiment with fashion! Start with a clean slate by getting rid of the clothes in your closet that you don’t wear anymore. Figure out the way you want to express yourself through fashion, then go thrifting! Thrifting for clothes is a great way to ensure that your style is completely unique and your pieces are one-of-a-kind. Depop is a great source for thrifting online if you can’t find any interesting places in your city. You can also create a vision board filled with outfits you like and recreate them!

7. Tattoos

You know what people say about tattoos – once you get one, you won’t want to stop. If you want to go on the more extreme, permanent side of things, consider getting inked up! You could always start with something small and minimalist in a hidden location if you’re unsure about tats. If you’re looking to get multiple tattoos on your body at some point, figure out the tattoo style you like and whether you want a large, cohesive sleeve, or distinct patchwork tattoos. Once you find an artist you like, you’ll be covering your body in no time.

8. Leave Your Comfort Zone

Leaving your comfort zone may sound like it has nothing to do with the way you look, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. When you go outside of the boundaries of what you already know, such as picking up a new hobby or traveling to a new country, you’re expanding your mind! Try to get involved in something you’ve never done before. This could be as simple as taking a cooking class or challenging yourself to read every single day. Once you make new memories and discover new passions, you’ll be outwardly glowing.

9. Work Out

Working out isn’t just good for the body, but it’s good for the mind, too! Getting physical releases endorphins and dopamine, causing you to feel happier in your daily life. You don’t have to go to the gym to work out. There are plenty of videos online that you can follow to get some exercise in. If you want to start hitting the gym, however, take it one step at a time! Rather than diving into a difficult work out regime, you may want to start by building your endurance and doing beginner exercises. You can find plenty of routines and ideas online.

10. Teeth Whitening Strips

A simple way to elevate your look is to whiten your teeth, and you can easily do this with whitening strips! Whitening strips are a non-invasive way to achieve the level of brightness you want for your teeth. All you do is put the film over your teeth and leave it on for the designated amount of time, avoiding food/drink for a little while afterwards. You can find whitening strips on Amazon or at Walmart. You can also achieve whiter teeth by drinking through a straw to avoid stains and using mouthwash on a regular basis.
