1. You Must Plan Ahead

First things first, when it comes to decorations for the holidays, you must plan ahead! Holiday decorations tend to take up a lot of time and if you plan on going above and beyond with decorations this year, and being the Martha May of your neighborhood you must plan.

2. First Impressions Start In The Beginning.. Decorate That Door!

As they always say, first impressions matter. Decorations on your front door can be very minimal, but give the right impressions. When it comes to decorations, all you need a really beautiful wreaths, with scented acorns, cranberries, a bow and if you wanna go the extra mile, you can even spray paint it with ‘snow’ to get that winter wonderland feel.

 3. The Stairs And Banisters

When it comes to the inside of your home, the first thing you may be faced with is the banister, and steps. For the banister and steps when it comes to decorations, it’s the same as the front door. Can be decaf-teed very minimalistic, but the decorations can be very impressionable. For the banisters wrap around garlands are a favorite, and should be used with lights that should also be wrapped around. The thing with this is that you really should be careful because it can be a fire hazard.

Other than that, you can also decorate the banister with candy canes to bring out the festivities. If you want to add on to the decorations, I highly recommend wrapping empty boxes of various sizes and putting them on every other step, or if its around November, you can use the pumpkins you picked in October.

4. Framed Art

Framed art can make your house look fantastic! You don’t need to frame holiday pictures of your family just for decorations. It can be of anything. For thanksgiving it can be pictures of fall leaves, and around Christmas time it can be pictures of trees or reindeers.

5. Lights

Lights are a great way to decorate your home and open your space. Lights for trees, on the house, on the staircase, you name it. Wherever you want lights to be at, put them. The best thing about lights is that they can come in all different sizes and colors to fit the theme for your decorations.

6. Never Too Much Candy

Glasses filled with candy such as; peppermints, Hershey kisses, and candy canes are easy and very cheap decorations. Most of the time you already have decorative glasses around your house that aren’t being used anyway, and if not, you can go to your local dollar store and find nice glassware that may look expensive, but actually aren’t.

You can never go wrong with a beautiful centerpiece on a table. Centerpieces are a lovely way to decorate your home and are an important display and can bring extra decorations to a room without it being too much. A great centerpiece is meant to draw attention and make a statement that the guests would absolutely love, and are a way to get compliments all throughout the holidays.

8. Why Only Have One Tree?

The holidays are all about going overboard, so you should do just that with trees. That doesn’t mean you need to go out and spend a fortune on Christmas trees but small trees are great for decorations because they usually come in a set of three, and you will have endless of options in colors.

If it’s one thing y0u must do, it’s decorating the dining room table. When you think about holidays, the first thing that comes to mind are the beautiful dining room tables that have the most beautiful tableware, centerpieces and even runners. If you don’t plan on decorating anything else in your house, the dining room table is a must because it’s where everyone will gather for dinner.

10. Holiday Terrarium

Last, but not least we have the holiday terrarium. If you don’t know, terrariums are usually sealable glass, miniature gardens and are fully functioning plant ecosystems. This does not mean you need to make one because most of them are already made, and are self sustaining. With the little cute things, you can put them all over your house and even hang them from the ceiling. A holiday terrarium sounds exactly as it is and a great DIY project for the family. All you need is an open glass, and whatever decorations you want to put inside. You can use short fairy lights, and cover them with pulled cotton to make it look like snow, and ass tiny reindeers, maybe a fake snowman, and even some small pine cones.
