Single on Valentine’s Day? Don’t feel bad! Being single has its perks, too. Here’s 10 ways to celebrate your freedom!
Clean out your wardrobe and reinvent yourself with a makeover! Go to all your favorite stores and splurge a little. (Or window shop. Whatever you can afford.) Spend as much time at the mall as you want, relishing the fact that you don’t have to drag around a reluctant boyfriend!
There’s no better way to celebrate being single on Valentine’s Day than with other independent friends. Swap stories: Who’s had the worst first date? Who’s had the most awful ex? Who’s parent’s won’t stop nagging them to get in a relationship? Romantic love can be nice, but there’s no replacement for the bond between friends.
Self care is important. Put on some music, light some scented candles, and take a bubble bath! You can go for the whole shebang – a bath bomb, a face mask, cucumber slices for your eyes, and bonbons to eat while you soak! Who says you can’t luxuriate and exfoliate?
You think Valentine’s Day is romance? It’s really about dessert! Whether you want to crank out a fancy three-layer cake or prefer to go with brownie mix from the box, this is a great way to celebrate being single on Valentine’s Day because you don’t have to share! (Don’t forget to taste the batter!)
Movie theaters are always crowded on Valentine’s Day. Skip the lines and watch your own movie at home! Being single on Valentine’s Day means watching your favorite rom-coms without groans of protest from your significant other.
Close the blinds, lock the door, and have your own uninhibited dance party! We suggest classic independent anthems like Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger”, Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next”, and of course, Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”.
Breath in… breath out. Yoga isn’t about competing with the person next to you, or even with yourself. Let yourself be totally absorbed by the movements and ending meditation. Leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and rocking those yoga pants.
Fix yourself a mug of hot chocolate and get cozy with that book that you’ve been meaning to read for weeks but haven’t had the time for. Reading is a very solitary activity, so enjoy the peace and quiet and get lost in the words (as long as your attention span is still intact after all the social media you’ve consumed).
Who’s the best dog in the world! My dog, obviously. But your dog is probably alright, too, and deserves to be celebrated! Take your fluffy friend on a walk they’ve never been to before, spoil them with treats, and snuggle with them to your heart’s content. Unlike a significant other, your dog loves you unconditionally and will never leave you.
Being single on Valentine’s Day means you get to focus on yourself. Take a moment to reflect on your strengths and accomplishments. What are you proud of? What do you like about yourself? Never feel bad about being single on Valentine’s Day. A relationship does not define you or determine your worth. You’re wonderful just the way you are!
