8 Ways To Become Your Own Fashionable Muse
Being fashionable is what some of us will call a way of life. It’s the way that the clothes we put on make us feel. It’s the confidence we have to go out into this world and fight for what we want knowing we look damn well doing it. Here are 8 ways to become your own fashionable muse inspired by the book, The Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia.
1. Confidence
Fashion is something very personal. It’s a way of living in a world so crazy. Fashion isn’t about being on-trend it’s about wearing items that make you feel your best. Having the confidence to do so is far more important than the clothes themselves. The reason being is that confidence is something we all have to work to have.
You need to believe in yourself so much to wear the clothes that you want to wear. You need to be comfortable as being you. That is a hard thing to do for a lot of us and that is why it is important to first and foremost start with learning about who you are. To be fashionable in your terms is to figure out what speaks to you. What makes you excited? Is it the rocker styled top or how you feel in those bell-bottoms? Whichever it may be, find what inspires you and run with it using all of your confidence.
2. Edit, edit, edit
Life, in general, is all about editing and then editing again and again. It never stops and the same thing goes with your fashion. We are humans so that means we are ever-evolving into the people we out to be.
Look at your closet. What do you love, and what do you not like? Figuring this out will help you in the long run when you decide to go out and buy a new outfit for yourself. Fall in love with the process of being okay with getting rid of clothing that doesn’t fit you. Being our own fashionable muse is exciting and exhilarating if you want it to be but you have to let yourself loose and be you. Experiment, have fun and enjoy the way you feel.
3. Shoes
To be your own fashionable muse you must, and I say MUST have to have great pairs of shoes. A lot can be told by the shoes you wear. You also NEED a great pair of shoes especially since you now will be walking in with the awesome confidence you now have. Fashion is meant to be experimental. Wear heels if you are a flats girl and try flats if you are a heels girl! It doesn’t matter. Have fun with your shoe game because the confidence that comes from a great pair of shoes will be nothing but phenomenal.
4. Accessories
You can never go wrong with accessories. Fashionable women always find the best accessories to go with an outfit and in my opinion, they make or break one’s outfit. By adding a great hat, sunglasses, rings, earrings, etc. you find that you add to the basic look that originally started. Giving an outfit extra flavor makes your style YOUR style.
5. Stop worrying about not having enough money
The world has brainwashed us into believing that we won’t become fashionable if you don’t have the money to spend it but fortunately for us, THAT’S JUST NOT THE CASE. Fashion is art. Of course, many high-end designers create fashion from beautiful fabrics and make designs for the beauty of it but art is art. The magic behind the art is that it is created by you and only you. Pair a vintage t-shirt with a high-end shoe is okay to do as long as it fits you. Be creative in every way so that you can achieve your wildest fashionable dream. It’s not about how much money you can spend, but how much fun you have creating the outfits you wear.
6. Be imperfect
Becoming your own fashionable muse is all about growing and learning who you are. In life, we as humans are very imperfect and what we forget is that it’s okay. It’s okay to not feel great about ourselves, it’s okay to mess up and ruin things. It’s okay to keep trying to learn what works for you and what doesn’t.
There are no rules in fashion. There are no rules in this world when it comes to becoming your true authentic self. So, enjoy the imperfections you have. Some of the most famous people in fashion are the ones that used their insecurities as strengths which in return brought them happiness and confidence from within. People love to celebrate others as long as they are true to themselves.
7. Vison boards
If you are trying to learn more about who you are and who you want to be in this world based on what and how you wear clothing then it’s important to find out what truly inspires you. Inspiration comes in very strange ways. You can’t always expect inspiration to come to you when you want, you just sort of have to always be ready for a pure moment of true inspiration to wash upon you.
You can evoke inspiration to come in faster by creating a vision board of what you love. Use magazines or Pinterest, fashion websites, celebrities, colors, music, anything that will get the juices flowing of creativity. Make a board full of everything you love and buy clothing that replicates how this vision board makes you feel.
8. Have fun
As said previously, being fashionable shouldn’t be like a trend. It shouldn’t be about following the rules to be apart of what everyone else is doing. Although taking bits and pieces from the trends has no harm to it, it’s also just so important to know who you are. If you want to be fashionable, be you. Wear your hair naturally curly, try out that shoe that looks a little weird to others, wear the makeup that makes you feel beautiful. It doesn’t matter what others think as long as you feel amazing in whatever you do. Use your creativity to the max and believe me, people will be inspired by how authentically, you are.
