These 10 Waffle Iron Hacks Will Blow Your Mind

The waffle iron is a relatively underrated kitchen tool in my opinion. A decent amount of people have them, but they’re not necessarily used very often or to their full potential. It might seem like their purpose is very singular: waffles. However, if you’re imaginative or know where to to look, there are some very interesting, unique things you can make with a waffle iron! Here are 10 waffle iron hacks that will actually blow your mind.

1. Grilled cheese

Who says waffle iron hacks are only for breakfast foods? Oh yes, you can make grilled cheese in a waffle iron, and, honestly, it is A LOT easier than the traditional methods of cooking the gooey food. By using a waffle iron to cook your grilled cheese, you don’t have to worry about flipping it at all! This one is super easy and makes the process a lot quicker.

2. Corndogs

Because no one really wants to fool with the scorching grease normally required to make a corndog, here’s an amazing hack! Wrap a hot dog in bread, then roll it in pancake batter. Put it in your waffle iron until the batter is golden brown and you have a delicious and unique hot dog (with waffle stripes no less)!

3. Eggs

There’s no limit to the abilities of the waffle iron! If you want to add a decorative flare to your eggs, here’s the trick for you. Except it’s not even really a trick at all! You can do it with either scrambled or sunny side up eggs. If you scramble them, just pour them in the iron like you would any other batter and close it until it’s done! It actually even ends up looking like a normal waffle! If you want to do a sunny side up, just crack the egg over the iron (but don’t shut it, of course). Limit the amount of dishes you’ll have to clean later by just cooking everything in one waffle iron!

4. Pizza

Essentially, you’re kind of making an inverted pizza, or a calzone if you want to call it that. Just grab some dough and stuff it with whatever pizza toppings you want!

5. Ramen noodles

No college student is a stranger to this delicious (and cheap) food. If you want to mix it up a bit, you can cook the ramen in the waffle iron for a new texture on the food you know so well!

6. Mac and cheese

Cooking it in the waffle iron makes the outside incredibly crispy while the inside remains soft, warm, and gooey. Who doesn’t want to eat macaroni in every possible way they can?

7. Kale chips

For those more inclined toward healthy recipes, this is for you! Mix the kale in some oil and press it in the waffle maker for about ten minutes for a crispy, healthy treat!

8. Soft pretzels

Finally, thanks to waffle iron hacks, you can make the iconic soft snack at home! Just add all the ingredients and press!

9. Birthday cake waffles

This is my type of birthday snack. Dessert and breakfast in one- it’s a dream! Just mix up the birthday cake batter, and put it in the iron!

10. S’Mores

Instead of graham crackers, just cook waffle mix until it’s crispy, then add the iconic chocolate and marshmallow until it starts to melt! Bring the campfire to the kitchen!
