When you make a batch of cookies have you ever just wanted to dig right into the raw cookie dough before even baking them? You can’t because raw cookie dough is not healthy for consumption but to satisfy that craving I have just the place for you. DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections is one place I’d call a unique New York Food experience. Their whole menu is edible cookie dough! Located at 550 LaGuardia Pl, New York, NY 10012 DŌ is nothing short of deliciousness and fun! You’ll feel like a kid just getting your own cup of cookie dough and chowing down on it. They have so many different flavors to choose that you’ll surely be satisfied no matter what you get. Make sure to go with a friend though because eating all that cookie dough by yourself gets a little filling.
When I say no bagel compares to a New York bagel I am speaking the truth. I’ve yet to have a bagel outside of New York that even competes with my local bagel shops. The best place to try out this New York Food is Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company at 63 E 8th St, New York, NY 10003. Everything is bigger in New York and that includes the bagels. Trust me you will want to try these New York delicacies because there is no place in the world that makes bagels life New York does.
Are you as big a Tim Burton fan as I am? Well, do I have the place just for you. Beetle House in New York is my absolute favorite bar to visit. It’s an entire bar themed around Tim Burton and his creations. Not only do you have food like Edward Burger Hands or Vegan Victor Von Pork but also clever drinks such as Coco Skellington or The Beetle’s Juice! The ambiance is incredible, it’s just as if you walked into a Burton film yourself. They even have live actors in costume as your favorite Tim Burton characters that walk around and interact with you while you eat. It’s a New York Food experience you just don’t want to miss. Make sure to call ahead for a reservation because they are always booked!
How could you visit New York and not have a New York Pizza! Prince Street Pizza at 27 Prince St A, New York, NY 10012 is well known for its giant square slice of pepperoni pizza. It’s just a generous pizza with so much flavor coming from the savory sauce, melty cheese, and the crunchy pepperoni. It’s a must-have when you want to try real New York Food.
Take a step into some New York history by visiting Katz’s Delicatessen at 205 E Houston St, New York, NY 10002. This deli is over 130 years old starting in 1888 it’s a working piece of classic New York history. Everything in Katz’s is as if you took a time machine to the ’80s, its a nostalgia trip within itself. When you’re there you have to get a pastrami on rye. It doesn’t get more New York than Katz’s.
A staple in East Village is Ray’s Candy Store located at 113 Avenue A, New York, NY 10009. This little sweets store has been in business since 1974 and is still being run by Ray himself! It’s a must-visit when in New York because it’s been a neighborhood favorite since the day it began. Step into the mind of Lewis Carrol when you enter Alice’s Tea Cup. Located at 102 W 73rd St, New York, NY 10023 it’s as if you are in Wonderland. You will want to go with a friend or family because it’s an experience that shouldn’t be done alone. Don’t forget to try their food too with their delicious fresh scones and finger food.
Hot dogs are the most New York you could get. Sure you could get hot dogs at any street corner all over the city but there is no place like Papaya King at 333 6th Ave, New York, NY 10014. If you are planning to get any hot dog in New York, this is the place to get that New York Food. While you get that Papaya King hot dog don’t forget to grab the Papaya Drink while you’re at it. It’s an age-old combo of sweet and salty that has been working since the 1930s.
Do you want to eat somewhere that Babe Ruth, Albert Einstein, and Theodore Roosevelt ate? Then you have to stop by Keen’s Steakhouse for dinner. Opened for decades at 72 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018 Keen’s stand being a literal restaurant museum combo. On their walls, they hold pipes that have been used by generations of famous people. You will want to try their mutton chop when you go because it’s their best seller. Their mutton chop is aged lamb that they just salt and broil to perfection.
