12 Unique And Exciting Quarantine Games To Play With Friends

If you’re running out of ideas to keep yourself busy and entertained during the COVID-19 lockdown, you’re definitely not alone. One of the best ways to pass the time and stay connected with friends is to incorporate some quarantine games into your weekly hangouts!

With so many available quarantine games out there, it can get pretty tedious trying to find the right ones to play with your friends. One challenge of finding games that everyone will love is that many people are exposed to the same few board games, video games, card games, and party games over and over. So, if you’re tired of playing Monopoly and Cards Against Humanity, then check out these 12 unique quarantine games that will make this pandemic breeze right by!

1. Disney’s Villainous

Villainous isn’t your average board game, and the number of players who can play is infinite! The unique aspect of this quarantine game is that each player is trying to reach their own villain’s objective while simultaneously trying to hinder the other players from reaching their villains’ objectives. And because every player is technically playing their own game in their own realm, you can play against one other player or in a large group of 20 or more friends!

There are currently 3 expansion packs that each includes 3 new characters, and the original game includes 6 characters. Check out this quick tutorial to get an idea of how the game is played!

2. Overcooked! 2

Overcooked! 2 is one of the most addicting quarantine games on this list. This game is available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS 4, and Xbox One. It can be played solo or with up to 4 players, and the best part is you can play together in one room or online in the comfort of everyone’s own home!

Test your teamwork skills and patience by cooperating with your co-chefs to cook, assemble, and serve orders while dodging crazy obstacles and raking in points to move onto the next kitchen, which promises to be more challenging and more outrageous than the last!

3. Truth Bombs

Perfect for a group of 4 to 8 friends, Truth Bombs is a simple, entertaining, and snarky game where you have to know your friends pretty well. The game starts by writing all players’ names down on the score pad and turning over the appropriate number of question cards for the number of players. Each player writes down their name on their answer sheet and then passes it to the player on their left.

Each player then answers one question card about the player whose answer sheet they have and then passes it to the left again until all slots are filled out. The players then take turns reading out the other players’ responses, pick their favorite response, and award the winning player a point!

4. Catastronauts

Definitely one of the most difficult quarantine games on this list, Catastronauts is similar to Overcooked! 2 in play style and appearance. This time, up to 4 players must destroy the enemy ship without taking too much damage to their own ship. The difficulty significantly increases with each new level, and at some point your entire ship will be on fire! Assign roles to each player so that someone’s in charge of repairs, someone’s in charge of extinguishing fires, someone’s in charge of firing guns, and someone’s in charge of taking care of all the other wacky obstacles you’ll encounter during this game!

This hilariously challenging local co-op game is available for PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4.

5. Shot in the Dark

Shot in the Dark is different from most trivia games because the questions are so obscure that literally no one will know the answers. This strategy levels out the playing field for those know-it-all friends who know literally everything.

The question master reads a question, then every player takes a guess at the answer. All players who can miraculously guess the right answer win a point, or the player who guesses the closest answer wins a point. If none of the answers are close enough to be considered almost right, the no one gets a point. Once the time limit is up, the player with the most points wins the game!

6. Deadwood 1876

Another unconventional hybrid board game, Deadwood 1876 can be played with 2 to 9 players. Based loosely on the HBO series Deadwood as well as actual historical events, this quarantine game involves strategy, betrayal, and greed as every player attempts to find the most gold by teaming up with others, leaving them in the dust, and combating opponents in some good old-fashioned Wild West shootouts!

7. Carcassonne

A quick-paced game of strategy and point collecting, Carcassonne can be played on PC, Xbox One, or Xbox 360 with 2 to 5 players. The board is built as each player takes their turn, and the objective is to control roads, cities, monasteries, and farms to win points before your opponents!

This PC game mirrors the original board game, whose tutorial can be watched to get an idea of how the game is played!

8. Blockbuster

Bust out this fun and clever party game for all your movie-loving friends! While this quarantine game requires a minimum of 4 players, there is no maximum number of players. Players are divided into 2 teams, and the team that goes first is decided by a quick round where one player from each team goes head to head to shout out movies related to a chosen category within a specific time frame.

The team who wins goes first, and one player draws a movie card. The other players attempt to guess the movie by that player either acting it out, quoting it, or giving a one-word clue!

9. Catan: A Game of Thrones

If you’re a fan of the HBO series Game of Thrones, then this version of Catan will totally rock your world. It takes all the classic elements of Catan and adds the additional challenge of defeating wildlings so that you and 3 other players must work together to keep the intruders off the board while simultaneously trying to win your own victory points!

Check out this brief overview to see those cool added features!

10. That’s What She Said

Similar to Cards Against Humanity but with its own twist, That’s What She Said is a great game to play with a large group of friends of 4 or more.

Each player draws 5 white phrase cards, and the player voted the kinkiest gets to draw the first red setup card. Each player turns in one phrase card that best goes along with the setup card to make a “that’s what she said” remark, and the player who drew the setup card picks their favorite response, awarding that player the red card. The first player to win 5 setup cards wins the round!

11. Death Road to Canada

This local co-op game for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch is not for the lighthearted. While it may look like a silly zombie-splatting game on the surface, you and all your friends will be throwing your controllers in frustration while simultaneously splitting your sides from laughing! Take a 2 to 4-man road trip from Florida to Canada while gathering supplies, trading food for weapons, ammo, and medical supplies, and killing as many zombies as possible along the way.

To make this game even more fun and endlessly re-playable, turn off the in-game soundtrack and play your own epic battle playlist in the background!

12. Majesty: For the Realm

Majesty: For the Realm is one of most fast-paced and re-playable quarantine games on this list. Two to four players lay down eight location cards in front of them, and each player takes one of six available workers from the supply. The objective is to earn the most money after each player has recruited 12 workers to their location cards.

The cool thing about this board game is that each location card tells you how many coins to collect for each worker at that location. Check out this quick tutorial for an idea of how the game is played!
