Choosing where to live on campus can be overwhelming, especially when there are so many great (and some eh) options. Here is the ultimate guide to dorms at UGA.
Congratulations to all of you for being accepted to this amazing school. It wasn’t an easy road, but you made it to one of the best universities of the south. Since UGA provides 22 dorms and eight different housing communities, we are going to make this easy and go by communities.
TADA! You are now living in close proximity with hundreds of other freshmen!
I’m partial to this ten story dorm, because this was my home as a freshman! Coed by wing and complete with its own study rooms, computer lab, and giant conference space including advising for Franklin College, this is one of the best freshmen dorms at UGA. I may also mention the convenient parking garage and bus stop. Oh, and basketball courts on the far side and tennis courts near the parking lot!
Similar to Russell, Creswell has a large lobby area and convenient bus stop locations, as well as a short downhill walk towards Bolton (not Troy from high school musical, but the dining hall across from the Student Center). Coed by floor with really long hallways, it’s complete with in-room air conditioning units (had a lady bug infestation this past year). It also has a beach volleyball court!
Yet another high rise, Brumby is coed by wing with the biggest lobby you’ve probably ever seen. It also has its own beach, Brumby Beach, located between Brumby and Russell. It doesn’t have sand, but a green space used to play corn hole and Frisbee daily. But good luck going up that hill everyday!
This is one of the dorms at UGA that has sinks in the rooms. Turn up for that, and being super close to both Bolton and O-House dining halls!
It’s called Oglethorpe, but don’t call it this unless you’re not actually a bulldog. It’s the only high rise not a part of the high rise community. Coed intermingled and not split up by floor or wing, it’s one of the dorms at UGA that has its own dining hall, plus a bus stop and suite style bathroom! Can you say win win? Also, it’s the home of everyone involved in fresh-co.
It’s a small coed community complete with a sink in the room and in-room air conditioning units.
Also small, also coed, and also complete with a sink and in-room air conditioning. Are you seeing a trend here?
This is a small coed community, complete with a sink and in-room air conditioning units.

Hill is all girls! It’s one of the dorms at UGA that’s made up of a small community, complete with a sink and in-room air conditioning units.
Huge plus for Reed community dwellers is their year long housing options during school break periods.
Close to ECV (East Campus Village) with a dining hall, two bus stops, Ramsey Fitness Center, and Lamar Dodd School of Art. It has several options for parking if you choose to bring bring a car, and is coed with in-room sinks and air conditioning units.

Payne offers year round housing for first year students in a coed community.
Reed also offers coed year round housing, centrally located to campus with suite style rooms and a direct view of Sanford Stadium – can I get a “go Dawgs?!” Each room is complete with a sink and air conditioning unit.
Honors community (yay super duper smart dawgs!), Myers community is located close to Snelling (the 24/7 dining hall where snellibrating takes place), as well as Sanford, Tate, and Stegeman, plus the quad!
Huge plus if you want to become fluent in Spanish or French, because this dorm offers cultural movie nights, dinners, excursions, concerts, and a weekly foreign language conversation course.Mary Lyndon is one of many coed dorms at UGA, complete with air conditioning units in each room.
Myers is an honors coed dorm with an Honors Advising Office, piano, large quad, and in-room air conditioning units. Fun fact: Myers displays a history panel for the First African American student to attend the University: Charalayne Hunter-Gault.
The newest housing option with double or single rooms, Rutherford contains a multipurpose room, two parlors, and a marble staircase – can someone say “CLASSY!?” It’s also coed, featuring in-room sinks and air conditioning units.
Apartment style residence halls near two bus stops, Ramsey fitness center, ECV dining hall, and Lamar Dodd school of Art, all these residence halls are coed, but bathrooms have to be personally cleaned.
Busbee consists of two to four bedroom apartments with living rooms and kitchenettes. Each student gets a private room with a full sized bed. No more than two residents will share a bathroom and will have air conditioning units!
McWhorter consists of two to four bedroom coed apartments with a living room and kitchenette complete with cabinets, microwave, kitchen sink, full fridge (my microwave couldn’t even fit a bag of popcorn; thanks shoe box of a high rise), full sized bed, and air conditioning unit.
Rooker is another one of the dorms at UGA that consists of two to four bedroom coed apartments with a living room and kitchenette complete with cabinets, microwave, kitchen sink, full fridge, full sized bed, and air conditioning unit.
Vandiver also consists of two to four bedroom coed apartments with a living room and kitchenette complete with cabinets, microwave, kitchen sink, full fridge, full sized bed (as opposed to extra long twin in other dorms), and air conditioning unit.
Because why live off campus and commute, when you can stay on campus and continue reaping the benefits?
Brown is the only coed dorm specific for sophomores located on Health Sciences Campus with single or suite style rooms and bathrooms. It’s near the Niche, the far off dining hall with made to order meals; try the calzones and sweet potato fries!
The only all girls dorm for sophomores, Soule also happens to be the oldest dorm on campus! Complete with southern charm, rocking chairs, porches, and large kitchens – with double or single rooms with private baths – it’s no wonder people choose to live in a dorm again!
