Finding the right foundation for you can be a bit of a task, but there’s no better feeling than finding the perfect match! Although The Ordinary is known for their outstanding and affordable skin care products, many don’t know that they also have a makeup line. But what is it that makes The Ordinary foundation so extraordinary? Well, let’s just say that after reading this, you’ll have to buy a bottle to find out for yourself! Here is my review of why The Ordinary foundation is extraordinary!
On the first inspection, The Ordinary foundation comes in a black box that has clear instructions with how to apply the product. It tells you to give the product a good shake before pumping a drop onto your fingers or the back of your hand. Costing an amazing £5.90, the product comes in a frosted plastic 30ml bottle with a convenient pump on the top to get the product out. Despite favouring lighter skin tones, The Ordinary foundation comes in 21 different shades ranging from very fair with pink undertones to very deep with natural undertones.
On the first application, the foundation comes out in a not-too-thick, not-too-thin liquid, but trust me a little goes a long way! For a very natural finish, only one pump is required but if you’re looking for more coverage, two pumps will two do the job. Despite being a full coverage foundation, it is still very buildable. It blends beautifully regardless of whether you are using your fingers, a sponge, or a brush to apply and it works well with concealers too. This foundation won’t sink into any fine lines on your face but at the same time, it doesn’t feel like it’s sitting on top of your skin. Even with its lovely hydrating feel, The Ordinary foundation is very lightweight. It’s the perfect middle ground of foundation that you have been patiently waiting for!
This foundation wears well throughout the day. You can also wear it with a primer and set with a powder for maximum effect. Go about your day worry free of how your makeup looks regardless of what you’re doing. This foundation will not cake, slide, or crease at all and it still looks very much like your own natural skin. The packaging does say that this foundation is a matte finish but it’s more like a natural silky finish, which can either be matted down by using powder or enhanced by using a highlighter of choice.
Overall, The Ordinary foundation truly is extraordinary and exceeds all of its expectations. It’s unusual for a company to have a fantastic skincare and makeup range, but The Ordinary has both. I highly recommend this as your go-to foundation, or at the very least give it a try. After all, it’s less than £6!
