Therefore, if you want to know why moving away for uni is good for you, be sure to keep on reading!
It is likely if you are moving away for uni it is to a place you do not know much about. This can seem very scary, but it is important to look at it as an opportunity to live somewhere completely new you maybe wouldn’t of if it wasn’t for going to university. It is the chance to learn about new cultures, new people, new shops, bars and restaurants to name a few. Once you spend more time in this un-known place, it will start to feel like a second home.
Another thing you may have worried about when moving to university is not knowing anyone. This can seem really scary at first, but it is important to remember everyone else moving away to university also doesn’t know anyone. You can reach out to fellow students on Facebooks groups for your accommodation or course. As time goes by, you will get to know your course and accommodation mates and you may even join a society. Besides making all these new friends, you will also meet people of all ages, cultures and religions. It is the perfect time to interact with people you never would of if it maybe wasn’t for university!
An important step of university is learning how to manage for yourself. If you have been lucky enough to be supported by your family up until university. It may be the very first time in your life of budgeting all of your money. This doesn’t just mean juggling your money for going on a night out and spending it on takeaways. You may have to consider thing like bills, food shopping and insurance to name a few. This is a key life lesson to learn and it will make you realise the real importance of money.
University is the perfect time to try everything you have never tried before. You may try clubbing for the first time or maybe pull your first all nighter! It is the only real time of your adult life you will have no heavy responsibility, so it is important to enjoy every moment and truly embrace student life!
You may also have been lucky enough to be able to avoid doing dishes, laundry and cooking during your time at home, if so you have been very lucky. Unfortunately, now going to university you won’t have someone doing it for you, it is time to take responsibility for yourself and decide what you have to eat, when you wash your clothes and when you clean up. This may not seem like a big deal, but it will teach you key life lessons and independence for yourself you may even learn some cooking skills?
