When I discovered that there is such a thing as wine therapy, I just had to announce it to the world! Maybe I am a tad late, but what better than a relaxing therapy with a glass or five of red in your hand. Sounds like a dream to me. So let’s find out exactly what wine therapy is and where we can all sign up.
Wine Therapy also called ‘Vinotherapy’ began in France when they discovered the health benefits of grapes to the body. Grapes are antioxidants which means it has the properties to eliminate damaged cells. It also has the ability to work as a protective layer on the skin and contains antiaging properties as it stimulates cell growth and collagen.
Wine Therapy is a treatment for both health and beauty, it revolves around the use of wine, grape seeds and vine extracts that are used in treatments such as wine baths, massages, masks, scrubs or wraps. Many cultures recognise wine as a healing product for poor health and disease because of the properties within grapes and the polyphenols in grape seeds which have the ability to improve the appearance of your skin, as well as, slim and soothe the body.
Unfortunately, there are not many vinotherapy spas in the UK. Why we would rather drink tea than a glass of red I just don’t know…regardless back to topic, there is one vinotherapy spa in London and if you are not keen on flying then this is your one and only opportunity to get a taste of what wine therapy can do for your body and your head the next day.
Location: 307 Fulham Road, Chelsea SW10 9QH
Ella Di Rocco is in the heart of Chelsea, they have a range of different treatments and body tests including wine therapy. The treatment includes a body scrub, bath, body massage, wrap and face scrub and mask. You are able to customise the whole treatment to suit your needs and the treatment ranges from £90 – £250.
I would definitely recommend opting for the Sangiovese Bath for the full vinotherapy experience, but please for the love of vine do not drink the wine bath. I know it can be tempting but they do give you a glass of red to quench your thirst so there really is no need. If you are going away this summer or you want an excuse for a cheeky holiday, then this is the perfect opportunity for you to try some vinotherapy spas in Europe.
