What Are Eyelash Extensions? And Are They Worth It?

What are eyelash extensions? And why are they all the rage these days? Read our article to find out more!

What are eyelash extensions?

So… what are eyelash extensions? Eyelash extensions by definition are: used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes.

What are eyelash extensions made of?

The lash extensions may be made from several materials including mink, synthetic, or horse hair. The three types of lashes depend on the finishing style you want to achieve: Size availability ranges from 6mm to 17mm. Once selected, the lashes are applied one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate the eye nor damage the natural lash.

There is the myth that eyelash extensions ruin your eyes, It depends on the sensitivity of your eyes and lashes from personal experience I would prefer to use eyelashes than consistently grazing mascara on. Why? The removal of mascara can be painful to the eye and with eyelashes and strip lashes they are easier methods of putting on and removing a beautiful lash looks.

So, what are eyelash extensions used for and why are they all the rage these days? Are eyelash extensions worth it?

In my opinion, yes. As a female with thin lashes the application of mascara does not give a dramatic look, or full look that I’m looking for. A full set of eyelash extensions will range from £30- £100. This is dependent on the place you go, the technician you go to and how thick/ thin you want the eyelash extensions to look. For strip lashes it is the cheaper option you can get branded lashes from £10- £20. Then you can get bulk of lashes and individual strips ranging from £3-£5. Eyelash extensions ultimately are used to give the illusion of fuller, longer, lashes and have been a big trend for women of all ages.

Removing your eyelash extensions:

To remove your eyelash extension you need to ensure that the eyelids are clean, you need cotton pads and a pot of vaseline. After washing your face, apply a dab of Vaseline into your hand and rub in circular motions on the eyes. This softens the glue allowing it to be easily removed. Ensure that you want these eyelashes for at least one – two weeks so that when removing them will be pain free.
