Beauty face masks are definitely a must in your skincare routine, it is the perfect treatment to target your main concerns whilst hydrating the skin and removing excess oils. Masks can be super fun and adventurous, however there are some that are taking it a little too far. These extremely weird beauty face masks have been floating all over social media and they have us beside ourselves and as I am always down for a challenge, I decided what better way to give you my full opinion than to give them all a try. I am going to be trying 8 weird beauty face masks that have us beside ourselves.
This is the first I’ve heard of a ‘rubber mask’ and it is definitely the most bizarre face mask I’ve ever worn in my whole entire life. First I had to apply this weird jelly ampoule product to my skin and then I had to put the rubber mask on top. It was pretty complicated to apply to the face as there’s two parts of the rubber mask, one for the lower half of your face and one for the upper half, and I struggled to keep them on at first, but once it set into my face it didn’t seem to budge at all. Dr Jart Rubber Mask is supposed to moisturise and soothe the skin with hydrating ingredients such as green algae, sea lettuce and chlorella. Personally, I did not experience these results on my skin, after taking off the mask my face did feel smooth, but quite sticky and unpleasant from the ampoule residue. This was honestly an epic fail and I had the urge to cleanse my face again afterward, it was way too weird for my likings. A great option when looking for weird beauty face masks!
I don’t think I am a fan of these rubber face masks, this Gold Crystal Collagen Face Mask was another absolute epic fail and it felt super weird. The face mask is supposed to help to smooth and refine skin, as well as, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I was super excited to try my first ever gold face mask, I mean who wouldn’t be impressed with that? But in fact I was not impressed at all. The mask smelt gorgeous, but once I put it on, it wouldn’t stay put at all it and continuously slid down my face. So I couldn’t keep it on for the full 15 minutes to gain the full benefits to my skin. Once removing the mask, after wearing it for literally 5 minutes, I didn’t really feel any major differences in my skin, however my skin did feel smooth, but that may just be because I genuinely have smooth skin.
Bubble Masks seem to be a popular trend on Instagram so I thought I’d join the hype and try this weird beauty face mask by Purederm. Out of the above two, I think that this mask was definitely a more pleasant experience. It came as a sheet mask in a single packet and was easy to fit on to the face. As soon as I opened the packet the sheet started to bubble immediately which make it a little hard for me to unfold the sheet at first, I had to be extra careful so that I would not rip it. This Purifying Bubble Mask contains charcoal powder which is supposed to cleanse and purify skin, as well as, absorb bad toxins and sebum oils giving you brighter skin. Initially after washing off the excess, my skin felt deeply cleaned and refreshed. I definitely felt like it purified my skin and cleared out my pores, so overall this weird Purifying Bubble Mask may not be so weird after all. A great option for weird beauty face masks!
The Casmara Mattifying Mask was by far my favourite mask of all. I don’t know what it is about mixing a mask together but it is so satisfying to me and it smells absolutely fabulous which adds to the satisfaction. It is a peel off mask which is supposed to remove excess sebum, balance skin and moisturise the skin leaving it looking matte and refreshed. The mask looks and feels so weird, I literally looked like a troll, but my favourite part of the whole experience was peeling the mask off. After peeling off my mask my skin felt so refreshed and appeared to be matte and oil free, so we have another winner!
The Ordinary Peeling Solution looks so weird! It is a bright red colour with a thick runny consistency, to me it looks like the fake blood you get from the Halloween store, so it was giving me full vampire vibes. I was quite anxious to use this peeling mask, not because it brought out my inner vampire, but because of its acidity. This mask contains AHA acid, which improves the appearance of the skin by fading fine lines and wrinkles, and BHA acid which is often used in anti-aging and acne products to settle inflammation, together both products work as an exfoliate to remove dead skin cells, clear your pores and brighten the skin. I must say that this mask was by far the easiest to apply and although it did sting slightly in the beginning, it calmed down within the first few minutes. After removing the mask, I definitely felt like my skin was purified and a lot smoother in texture. It is a method of exfoliating that I have never tried before, but there’s nothing weird about the results of this one because I think it actually did the job. A great option when exploring weird beauty face masks!
As soon as I saw chocolate and face mask in the same equation I just had to give it a try. This mask is definitely a weird beauty face mask because not only is it chocolate, but it is heated and instantly feels warm on the skin. This mask is supposed to add moisture to the skin and purify your skin from excess oils and blemishes. Initially the mask actually felt quite soothing and relaxing because of its warming properties, I actually felt like I was having a spa treatment, but once I took off the mask my face didn’t feel any different from how it felt before, so maybe it wasn’t worth a try after all. I know what you’re all thinking, but no I did not taste it, I’m not that reckless and I wouldn’t advice it either.
The only thing weird about this mask was the name because it definitely felt quite normal to me once I put it on. This sheet mask contains vitamins, antioxidants, Caviar and Witch Hazel, which is supposed to reduce inflammation and protect the skin leaving the skin feeling youthful and hydrated with a radiant glow. The Caviar Sheet Mask was very easy to put on, it felt super soothing on the skin and once I took the mask off my skin felt soothe and refreshed. I would definitely wear this mask again to me it was the most normal one of them all. Another cool option for weird beauty face masks!
This Tropical Cocktail Mask is weird but an absolutely great idea, it smells amazing and it is exactly what you need to get into the summer spirit. It has an exotic blend of mango fruit, noni fruit juice, coconut and pineapple. This Tropical Cocktail Mask is supposed to clear the skin and create a radiant glow. The mask has a thick smooth consistency and feels refreshing on the skin. According to the instructions you are meant to wash the mask off with warm water, however I found it difficult to rinse off the mask because of its thick syrupy consistency and I had to use my face cleanser to help break apart the mask. Overall I feel like the idea of the mask was much more exciting and unique than the actual results because when I did finally get it all off, my skin did not have that summer glow that I was expecting.
