It’s time to ditch the black because white is well and truly here to stay as the trendiest colour to wear right now. If you already love the colour and are looking for some inspiration, or genuinely have no idea of what are the best ways to wear white, here are some of the most stylish ways to wear white right now so you’re ticking multiple spring/summer trend boxes.
This is my personal favourite. Broderie anglaise (‘English embroidery’) is instantly recognisable from its pattern of little holes and is so named because of its surge in popularity in Victorian England. It’s become modernised and looks gorgeous and feminine as part of any outfit. White is the classic colour used for broderie anglaise, and it makes the unique pattern look best. It’s pretty, the material is light and it’s another summer trend. Go for a blouse or dress to complete the look.

Similar to broderie anglaise, white lace is making its way out of your lingerie closet and into your main wardrobe. White lace is ideal for wearing in hot weather as the fabric is light and lets your skin breathe, and it looks beautiful worn with a dress for a casual yet pretty daytime look. It also works in the evening for a timeless party look.

When you want something a little different from jeans or it’s simply too hot, white linen trousers are a wonderful and fashionable alternative. They look polished and chic for the office, are comfortable for wearing on holiday, or can be dressed down for a casual al-fresco lunch. Score double points and go for a cropped or wide-leg style to make your legs look longer, and pair with a white top to create a really trendy and expensive looking all white look. In terms of accessories, pair with a straw bag like the picture below – that’s another summer trend worked!

Whether it’s your pristine white Nike’s or stiletto heels, white shoes are an easy and more subtle way to incorporate white into your outfit without making a bigger statement. White shoes will instantly add a touch of class to an ordinary outfit, and if you opt for a current shoe trend such as heeled flip flops, platforms or ‘dad’ shoes, you’ll be wearing two trends in one.

If, like me, you’re prone to getting your shoes a little dirty and don’t want to ruin the colour, then opt for a white bag to work the trend. This also gives you more freedom to choose a style that’s individual to you, be it a tomboy backpack or evening clutch. Work two trends in one again by choosing a white bag with a pattern or design, such as animal print or embroidery. If you want to stay classic, leather is always a stylish option and goes with any outfit.

Really make a statement in white this season and go all white. You can coordinate a shirt and trousers, but what is even more trendy right now is the white jumpsuit. This look is comfortable and classy, and can be worn casually or dressed up for a summer party look. Nail all the trends we’ve mentioned earlier and go for a sexy lace jumpsuit for a night out, and accessorise with white shoes and a bag. Or work the utility trend and wear a boiler jumpsuit for an effortlessly chic daytime look. Either way, an all in one white outfit looks classy and chic.
