University is hard right? It’s stressful enough without us being flustered and fumbling around with scraps of paper and dodgy pens. You want to make the most of your experience without tearing your hair out, it’s supposed to be fun! The best way to combat stress is to be organised and once you do it, take my word for it, it pays off in the long run! You’ll find you have more time for social events and to just relax after a hard week. Have a peak at these 10 ways to stay organized while at Uni!
This is one of the essential ways to stay organized. University is all about time management and making sure that your on top of your work whilst making time for a social life. Colour code your classes, social life and extra work. It will save your life! Make sure the diary is small enough so that it can pop inside any bag you have, don’t opt for a big bulky thing that your going to hate carrying around.
This is a great excuse to go shopping without feeling guilty! You will need a notebook for each module, a big binder, pens, pencils and most importantly, dividers! These bad boys are a gift to any university student. Use them to separate the work for each module on your course. Trust me this is a God send when it comes to assignments, you simply flick to the section you need and all of your notes are there. Together. In one piece. Not crumpled in the bottom of your bag.
As soon as you find out any deadline, write it down on your home-made ‘deadline sheet.’ I pinned this above my desk and away from bed so that I was aware of what was due in when but I didn’t have to stare at it when dozing off to slumberland.
Not only does this help with your budget, but will help you maintain a healthy diet. Make a weekly shopping list, it takes 2 minutes to do and will save you a whole load of money and calories! We’ve all heard of ‘Fresher’s Flu’ and let me tell you, it is no myth. Keep that immune system up to scratch so that you can fend off any unwanted germs coming your way.
Yes this sounds like a drag. Of course, a social life is supposed to be fun and spontaneous as nights out are often the best. But as far as you can, it helps to pencil in your social calendar alongside your academic stuff. It will help you plan your work accordingly and more importantly, allow you to feel like you really deserved that night out because you, yes you, submitted that essay.
Your gonna be reading a lot of material so if you can colour coordinate the things you highlight, your life will be easy breezy, no stress. For example, Green for quotes, Red for important information, Yellow for references.
Creating a budget plan saves you so much stress as well as dollars! Work out your weekly budget and anticipate anything you might have to spend. This is a super quick task that will help you make the most out of your funds and will save you pennies when preparing for that all important night-out.
You don’t need a lot of stuff to succeed. So keep your room clutter free and tidy by doing quick clean up at the end of each day. A cluttered room really does lead to a cluttered mind.
Lay out your clothes for the next day so that you can cram in more hours of that all important beauty sleep. Long nights out and long study hours – you need your rest gurl! This is definitely one of the best ways to stay organized!
No matter how big of small the room, creating a study space is the best way to boost productivity and enhance your chances of success. Try to get it as far away from your bed as possible so that you can separate the two spaces in your mind.
