10 Ways To Look Expensive and Chic

When you leave the house to go to school, to work or anywhere else you might choose to go, you don’t want your clothes to say ‘I didn’t put any effort today’ even when you actually did, and even when you do want to look effortless it should be more of a ‘I always look this flawlessly good’. So, here are 10 easy tips to always look expensive and chic. This means that your clothes will look expensive, you look high-end, elevated and that you definitely know what you are doing when it comes to fashion and style.

1. Wear expensive looking fabrics

The first point is to find expensive looking fabrics that won’t break the bank. This could mean fabrics with a silky feel to them, or maybe you are more of a faux leather kind of person, or maybe velvet is more your style. These fabrics always look expensive even if they were actually not. If you can actually afford to invest in some real fabric pieces then go for it, but if you can’t don’t worry the quality might not be the same but the overall effect will be.

2. Tuck or tie your shirts

Tucking in your shirts completely, or even just the front part and then adding a belt to your bottom piece will make your outfit look more put together, like you didn’t just throw on some pieces but you actually gave it thought of what you were going to wear today. Another way you could wear your shirt is by unbuttoning the last two buttons and tying the ends up in a knot. This gives your shirt a different kind of silhouette, that is more tied in at the waist.

3. Wear simple jewellery

Again, this does not mean you have to buy really expensive jewellery, you can really just wear high street jewellery and you would still get the same results. However, opting for simpler jewellery will make it look more expensive then what it is, try choosing a couple of simple golden or silver items, or maybe even something with pearls and you will look expensive and really high end.

4. Wear all white or all black

No matter how you feel about this point, wearing a monochromatic outfit will make it look a lot more put together and as if you had thought very hard about what you were going to wear (like if you had tried on your entire closet until you found things that would go well together because of the colours).

5. Wear a long coat

Wearing long coats over your outfit does make it look more expensive than what it is in reality and if you want to look even cooler drape it over your shoulders.

6. Chose the right kind of handbag

Top handle bags are by far the chicest and sophisticated type of handbag. You just need to wear it in the crook of your arm and it will make your outfit look a lot more elegant.

7. Wear sunglasses

With your long coat draped over your shoulders you should also wear a nice pair of sunglasses. For this, I would suggest bigger sunglasses as the look will give you kind of ‘celebrity that doesn’t want to be photographed’ vibes, however, the trend right now is to wear smaller sunglasses. So, like all the other points in this list, this is very much up to you.

8. Roll or cuff the end of your jeans

This next point has nothing to do with your clothing, but everything to do with your ankles especially if you are wearing heels (and if you don’t like your ankles just skip this point). If you are wearing heels with your outfit consider rolling or cuffing the end of your jeans or trousers, because it will make your outfit and your shoes look so much better.

9. Pay attention to trends

This goes against what a lot of people on the internet recommend, a lot of people say to dress classic and I do agree with that but I think it makes it even better if you add in trends of trendiness. If you think about it every celebrity out there has the latest handbag, the latest pair of shoes and they try to incorporate them into their personal style. So, don’t forget about the trends, but also wear some classic pieces as well and everything will come together and you will look fabulous.

10. Wear a designer piece

This last point is not for everyone, I don’t want to say that to look expensive you need designer items, because it’s not true. However, if you can afford it adding one or two designer pieces to your outfit will bring up the whole look. You can wear super affordable pieces and then maybe wear a designer handbag or designer pair of shoes.

So, here are all of the tips to always looking expensive and chic. If you have anything to add please comment it down below.
