Denim is a brilliant fabric that you can wear every day. It can get a bit tedious after a while and dressing it up is a really good way to avoid that. You’ll be the style icon everyone is talking about around the town. Here are 5 steps to how.

1. Ribbon

Dressing up your denim with a simple and incredibly affordable ribbon is a great way of styling and personalising your denim. You can pick your favourite colour, width, pattern and length and thread it through your boring old denim. It works great through loops and holes and if not there is always a handy glue gun so you can stick your favourite bows to jeans. Ribbon also makes a great frill and you can add multiple colours. Ribbon is an amazing way to express yourself and you should always do that through your clothes.

Next time you pass a fabric shop, pop in and see if any ribbon catches your eye. You can add it to your denim jeans, jacket or shirt. Plus, it is so cheap that you can always find a way to afford it. What more could you ask for to dress up your denim?

2. Patterned Fabric

Grab yourself some really funky fabric and some fabric glue or paint. With a few snips here and there and perhaps a few tears, you could create an amazing piece of work that you will be proud to wear. This can be either on jeans or a jacket. You will, however, need some really good fabric scissors and fabric glue – PVA just won’t cut it for this one. Have a look at what fabrics are out there, you can express your personality through this look. If you are a fan of cats, get some fabric with cats on!

A metre of fabric doesn’t have to be that expensive, plus you can recycle an old pair of jeans that have been sat at the back of your wardrobe for months/years. Give them a new breath of life, soon they will become your favourite item of clothing. Make your everyday denim more you!
