Earrings as such an easy, simple way to jazz up any outfit – they literally work with anything, and you can take some with you in the morning to take any outfit from day to night. A plain black culottes/turtle neck outfit? Pop statement earrings on. White summer dress? Earrings. Shirt and jeans? Earrings. Vintage statement earrings have been everywhere for the past few seasons, and they’re only getting bigger! Weirdly, and somewhat paradoxically, there’s a definite modern feel to them, too. So, we’ve compiled some of our favourite vintage/retro earrings for when you really want to make a statement with your look. The metal ones will work well for a classier, sleeker look, and all those bright colours will definitely make any outfit pop.
These Monki earrings remind me of a Matisse cutout, and the bright plastic is reminiscent of the 80’s (like, the really, really, retro 80’s). These are perfect for summer, too!
This pair (also from Monki) is a bit more subtle (in that they’re silver instead of neon) – the disc drop earrings are like something out of the 70s, adding a statement retro twist to your outfit:
‘Subtle’ is probably the wrong word to use, tbh. These Zara earrings are pretty big, but with fewer bells and whistles than most earrings we’re seeing this season. The gold’ll offset a tan nicely, too.
I love this retro Zara pair – the muted colour means that they’ll carry well into autumn and winter, too.
Baroque-inspired vintage earrings are massive this season. Try this ASOS pair for a really dramatic, statement look:
There’s a wonderful, retro, 80’s vibe in these ASOS earrings:
Geometric earrings are everywhere this season. They’re somehow both modern and retro, and make for a great statement piece.
Nothing says the 70s quite like tortoise shell. Try these ASOS earrings:
Wooden earrings are super retro, and are great for summer. Try this MANGO pair for a modern take on them:
These Regal Rose lion knocker earrings make for a proper statement.
