Where To Shop For Vegan Makeup In The UK

I’m not a certified vegan or even vegetarian, but I like to go vegan/veggie when and where I can, makeup being one of them (cosmetic animal testing is disgusting and needs to stop). Recently, Nars announced that it would recommence animal testing in order to be able to trade within the Chinese market, which is just incredulous. Bye-bye Sheer Glow, it was grand while it lasted. Thankfully, however, we’ve still plenty of vegan makeup options left in the UK, and the list keeps on growing with each passing year as demand for more vegan-friendly options increases. I’ve compiled some of my favourite vegan makeup UK items here, ranging from cheap to high-end.

e.l.f. Powder

Once upon a time, e.l.f. was one of the most exciting brands around, and every YouTuber’s favourite, bringing about HD powders and liquid lipsticks all the way back in the early 2010’s. They were, and still are, extremely affordable, and completely and utterly vegan (with the exception of the essential brush collection).

Barry M

Barry M is one of the few drugstore brands that is completely cruelty free, and consistently comes out with really great, really cheap products. Their nail polishes are already well known to everyone who grew up in the UK, and they’ve recently begun to add glitter, metallic glitter drops, and holographic lip toppers to their selection.

The Body Shop

Although The Body Shop does use ingredients like beeswax in some of their products, a lot of their makeup is completely vegan, and they’ve always been anti-animal testing. They recently switched owner, too, from L’Oréal to Natura, meaning their parent company doesn’t test on animals! A lot of their bestsellers, like the Fresh Nude Foundation, are completely vegan. This is is also available in a pretty impressive range of shades – click the image below to shop!

Kat Von D

Although it’s definitely more expensive that the other brands mentioned here, Kat Von D is one of the only fully cruelty-free/vegan high-end makeup brands out there. Their foundations and Tattoo Liners are cult classics already, and the brand recently launched a 10-year anniversary collection and it looks amazing – especially this palette.

Cover FX

You know those shimmering highlighter drops everyone and their mothers have been raving about for the past few years? The Cover FX Custom Enhance Drops? Vegan. Completely vegan, and completely stunning. Fun fact, Cover FX was actually launched by the former chief chemist and MD at MAC – meaning you know you you’re getting the good stuff, here. Their foundation comes in 40 shades, too, meaning they’ve something for everyone!

Too Faced

Although not fully vegan, Too Faced is cruelty-free, and has a very good FAQ list of their vegan products – this includes their Hangover Primer and Better Than Sex Mascara! However, Estée Lauder, who does test on animals – so make your own judgments, here – owns them. This item is a great vegan makeup UK product that works!

See Also

Inika

Most lipsticks, especially red, use carmine for the pigment – this is crushed up bugs, basically (found in a lot of strawberry-flavoured foods, by the way). Inika, however, sells a lot of red tones (amongst lots of other great makeup) and is a fully vegan and organic brand, too. They do vegan brushes as well!

Urban Decay

Like Too Faced, Urban Decay is cruelty-free, and does a good job at listing all of their vegan products – this includes their foundations, brushes, and setting sprays. Although they are cruelty free in themselves, they are owned by L’Oréal, who does test on animals. Make of that what you will! This is one of the vegan makeup UK products that you will love!
