10 TV Show Style Icons You Need To Know About

We all love sitting in front of the TV and binge watching a new show. But some of the world’s biggest style icons are born from these TV shows. With trends changing and evolving every five seconds and different fashion eras and subcultures constantly coming in and out of fashion, it’s hard to keep up. But that is exactly why looking to your favourite TV show is the best way to find a new style icon. They’re literally everywhere, you’re bound to find a TV show style icon you want to copy in just about everything you watch! We’re here to help you out a bit with this and let you know the top 10 TV show style icons you have to know about.

1. DJ Tanner – Full House

Full House was a very popular TV show that started in the late 1980s. The Full House cast gave us a whole host of TV show style icons to follow and love as they grew up on the show. One of note is DJ Tanner, played by Candace Cameron. Throughout all eight seasons of the show this teen was a huge style icon, not only back then, but also now. With the 80’s and 90’s firmly planted back onto the fashion scene DJ offers us everything we need and more! From high waist denim, to check prints and pinafores, what more could we ask for? This girl has it all.

2. Rachel Green – Friends

Rachel Green is probably one of the biggest TV show style icons out there, the epitome of a 90’s style queen. Crop tops, mini skirts, cami dresses, Rachel wore it all. With a different but equally fashionable outfit for every episode, it’s no wonder Rachel was so popular, both on and off the screen. But she did work for Ralph Lauren after all, what more could you want in a friend?!

3. Effy Stonem – Skins

Everyone can admit it, as a teenage girl watching skins, we all wanted to be Effy Stonem. With her big doe eyes and mysterious persona, she always seemed to get what she wanted. Her grungey, “I don’t care” style with the fishnet tights, leather jacket, layers and layers of jewellery and all-black outfits was everything we craved as teenagers. The slight hint of grunge and all black ensembles are definitely something that has followed me through into my 20’s, it’s something I just can’t shake (and don’t really want to).

4. Blair Waldorf – Gossip Girl

Blair Waldorf. Queen of the Upper East side. Queen of the Met steps. A true TV show style icon. It all started with her iconic headbands, but this queen has so much more to offer. Elegance and grace follow her, like her band of minions. With her form-fitting, tailored skirts and dresses, she knows exactly how to dress for every occasion. Even in the first seasons of the show, still in high school, Blair knew how to make her school uniform her own. She is THE TV show style icon of the Upper East side, and the best part is she knows it.

5. Maeve Wiley – Sex Education

The new ‘it’ TV series on Netflix, Sex Education is bursting with TV show style icons. One of which is Maeve. Seen as an outcast by her peers, Maeve is some-what a social pariah at the start of the series. She is definitely underrated, as her sense of style is that of what dreams are made of. The all black, the Docs, the pink hair; she screams cool, a real TV show style icon if there ever was one.

6. Chuck Bass – Gossip Girl

Everyone’s favourite ladies man, Chuck Bass. With his (very) well-fitting suits, colourful shirts, and later signature bow ties, Chuck Bass is a real TV show style icon. His “bad boy” stereotype, offset by his iconic smirk and uncharacteristic soft spot for Blair Waldorf is enough to make any Chuck bass fan swoon. Always one to be dressed his best, the TV show style icon that is Chuck Bass never disappoints.

7. Cheryl Blossom – Riverdale

The red bombshell that is Cheryl Blossom. This TV show style icon burst onto our screens in season one of Riverdale, and we haven’t been able to get her out of our heads since. Aside from her signature red style, Cheryl has blessed us with a variety of styles from short skirts and crop top, to tight leather trousers and the one and only red serpents jacket. Even her red cape is something to behold.

8. Chanel #3 – Scream Queens

All of the Scream Queens Chanel’s are TV show style icons. From sequins to fur, every colour of the rainbow, these girls are high maintenance, but a styling dream. But Chanel #3, in particular, has something that the others don’t: her earmuffs. Chanel #3 made the decision to wear earmuffs for her own safety after an ex-boyfriend became obsessed with her ears and threatened to cut them off. But just because they’re practical, doesn’t mean they have to be ugly. Chanel #3 has multiple pairs of them in all different colours, bejewelled and fluffy, to match her outfits.

9. Eric Effoing – Sex Education

Eric isn’t afraid to experiment with colour, print or texture. In fact most of the time he mixes them all together. The more his outfits clash the better! From trousers and trainers; to eye shadow and glitter, Eric’s not afraid to wear any of it (even all at once). Let’s not forget that statement all orange outfit.

10. Spencer Hastings – Pretty Little Liars

Spencer is a huge TV show style icon. From her preppy, school girl-esque style in the first seasons of the show, to her smart casual “jeans and a nice top” style in later seasons. Spencer Hastings has been through it all. She always had the best dresses for every fancy occasion and school dance too in my opinion. But, with styles you don’t typically get in UK TV shows, all of the liars were definitely TV show style icons.
